| I was really disappointed today when I got a great spinach chicken salad from Wendy's and then checked the carbs on the tiny little dressing packet - 24g! I'm still doing induction so it would have blown my whole day. I checked Wendy's web site (love their nutrition info BTW) and found that next time, I will ask for creamy ranch or Ceasar dressing instead of the default sweet and sour. Cuts the carbs in half. Lesson learned. At least I was smart enough to throw out the croutons and check the dressing before I blew it, but my salad was kind of dry.

| Yup. Another lesson learned, Mary. You point out an important issue: labels. We all become label readers and web site checkers ... looking for the REAL carb counts of various things. Fast food is always tricky. The best thing we can do is to share information with one another. Forewarned is forearmed.

| i've personally found that ranch is usually your best bet for salad dressings out and about. i don't know why, but that seems to be true,. 24g! geez. that is scary, huh? good to check those things out. congrats for being a smart eater! |

| Except for McDonalds! All of their dressings are like 11 carbs for the packet and they aren't even all that great. I usually go buy a salad at Walmart for DH that comes with two dressing packets, take it to him and steal one of his packets and then go get a salad somewhere that I can take Austin to play. I just wish that someplace around here sold just those little dressing packets cause they look at me funny when I pull a whole bottle of dressing out of my purse!

| I hear ya Katie...I bought some of those little 2 ounce plastic bottles in the cosmetic department at walmart and I put salad dressing in one of those when I am going out...that way I don't have to pull a big ol' bottle out.

| The best choice for dressing at McDonalds is actually their low fat balsamic vinegrette.

| dressings are often big calprits for high carbs. People get stuck on eating "healthy" and often low fat or low cal means high carb, they add fake crappy sugars and such to get the "flavor" back that they took out with the fat and cal's they had to rid of. Good thing that you had your low carb eye out on this one, that certainly wouldn't of been worth a CHEAT, especially since you were trying to stay on program! Kudos on the catch.

| Wendy's nutrition site says ranch is good, but claims ceasar is better. Either way, I will never make the mistake of thinking that just becuase I'm ordering salad, I've made the right choice. Thanks all for your support. I'm still learning, but I'm having fun!!!
