| Hi everyone, I been back on this woe for about 2 months. I have done low carbs about 4 times so far I think. I was wondering if anyone had any neat tips, ideas, or advice on social eating. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I guess I am not worried about things like going out to eat with friends that I have known for a long time but am more worried about eating with people I just met. Specifically, I am thinking about dating. When I meet a lady and we go out to eat, how shall I handle the situation? With friends that have known me for a long time I don't worry about eating differently, however, when I am on a date with a lady for the first time I worry about making an impression that I am wierd or something. Any advice on this would be much appreciated. |

| I'm not trying to minimize your concern, but what's so weird about a nice steak (or other piece of meat, or some fish) with a nice big salad and a cooked veggie? If a lady friend thinks this is weird, you might want to take a "pass" on that one, no? ![]()

| When the dessert cart comes along, just say you're trying to avoid sugar. It works pretty well - and better yet, it's true

| If your date comments on your food choices, just tell her you are trying to eat healthier. You might find that she appreciates that effort. And if dessert comes up, just say that you feel so much better when you don't eat sugar, so you'll pass. Most likely the subject of what you eat won't come up, anyway. We certainly don't eat weird stuff, do we? Lean meat, a salad, a nice veggie, maybe some berries, what a great meal that anyone would approve of. Wishing you success on your lc journey. |

| thanks for all your ideas . Maybe as Maggie says maybe I am overly concerned. Maybe its not a big deal eating this way when on a date. |

| most people have at least heard something about lc now, and probably know someone who does lc or who has lost weight on lc. plus, considering lc is primarily avoiding white flour and sugar, that's not exactly bizzare eating behavior. i wouldn't sweat it. and besides, if someone was put off by the fact you stay away from unhealthy food, they probably wouldn't be a good match for you anyway, eh? have fun! |
