Default new but not

Hi there dieters. I am new here but not to diets and low carbs and other woe's. I am almost 31 *cringe* and have achieved the goal of losing 30 pounds, now I am going for another 40. It is tough once you get to a certain age, pounds don't melt off but they certainly add on quick enough. I have followed low fat, low carb, and other 'fad' diets. I have found through many studies that a perfect balance of proper carbs and low fat, works best for my personality. When I want something sweet, I grab a high fiber piece of fruit rather than the 'shunned' treats that I tend to stuff myself on.
I hope to find friends on here, support, and to be support for others.

Welcome Ladyfae.

Glad to hear that you have found a way of eating that works for you, but I've gotta say that I beg to differ with your characterization of low carb as a "fad diet." I have been following the Atkins Nutritional Approach for nearly eight years now and have normalized my weight and all my blood chemistry ... and have maintained it all this time. For some of us (like me, for instance) this is not a "fad" or a "diet." It's just how we live.

Hope you'll make yourself at home.

Welcome Aboard Lady!
I just turned 31 in March and thought, ugh! I need to get this body back in shape, I need to be lean and healthy. I need to take care of me. The years creep up on us so quickly and I personally have spent too much time "yo-yo & fad dieting", obsessing and not taking the care that I need. I agree that low carb is not a fad, but a lifestyle. Fad's go away, this will long out live other weight loss choices.

All the best and keep us informed! Good job on the 30 pounds weightloss so far.

I actually was not refering to the low carb as fad...other fad diets as in slim fast, cabbage soup, banana diet...you name it...I tried it. Low fat and low carb are not what I would consider fad dieting as it doesn't disappear within months like the Holywood diet did....ya know? Low carb has been around longer than I have. My mother tried it back in the 70's.....caveman type diets were new then and low fat was not quite heard of either....the overall way of eating for most people, that remains strongly recommended today is balanced diet using ALL food groups and eliminating the processed junk, rather have wholesome grains etc....
yadda yadda...we all know the song and glory

The banana diet? I haven't heard of that one, I never did the cabbage soup one either, I did low cal, low carb, low fat (I tired "stopping the insanity" with Susan Powters!LOL) and I did what the "ghaddi" diet that me and my girlfriend used to do, we didn't eat. NONE made me feel the way that LC does though!
