Default A new low carber

Needing to lose alot of weight and thought this site might help me out.
Anyone who would like to help me out I am open to all suggestions.
I am doing Atkins low carb but am having a problem with the 20 carbs a day on induction. I did ok the first day but the second day I had hunger pangs in my stomach.
What am I doing wrong? I cannot go on like this feeling so hungry. I thought you were not to suppose to feel hungry on low carb.
I printed up a list of low carb foods to eat on induction but 20 carbs is not cutting it for me.
Hope to hear from some of you for advice.

SunShine, sometimes it's hard getting used to eating only 20 carbs per day. Have you read the Atkins book (usually referred to here as DANDR)? If not, read it through.

Are you eating enough? Post some of your menus, let some of the more experienced low carbers take a peek. Sometimes low carbers make the mistake of not eating enough, or enough variety. If you're hungry, eat something, just make sure it's low or no carb.

Last night we had big, beautiful pork chops with a huge salad for supper, but even after I ate, I was still hungry. It happens sometimes. Just wait a bit, have a glass of water, (sometimes we think we're hungry when we're really just thirsty), and if you're still hungry, find something low carb to eat. That's what Dr. Atkins always promoted - don't go hungry. Satisfy your hunger with protein. Eat a piece of chicken, or a burger, or a boiled egg, or a piece of cheese. Don't go hungry. Don't stuff yourself, either. Eventually you'll find what foods are most satisfying to you, and get the hang of it.

I wish you much success in your journey.

Welcome, Sunshine.

You shouldn't be hungry. If you are hungry, you are not eating enough. How's your protein and fat intake?

As Nita suggested, why don't you post a typical day's menu, so we can try to help you out?

Hope you'll make yourself at home.

welcome, sunshine.

if you're feeling hungry, a lot of times something with some fats in it will make you feel full. sometimes people try to do atkins low fat and most of the time, it's just not necessary, especially starting out.

and remember, you can eat the allowed foods as long as you're hungry. at the beginning, you shouldn't even worry about portions, other than to stop eating when you are no longer hungry. raw veggies with ranch is one of my favorite induction-friendly snacks, and those veggies are great for you! or sometimes i have deli-thin sliced lunch meat with a bit of cream cheese and an olive popped on there. or pepperoni-cream cheese sandwiches!

hey, is it snack time?

also, please be aware sometime around day 4 or so for most people, your appetite will dramatically decrease as your body switches to fat-burning mode. it's worth holding out for!

good luck 2 you.

How can you be hungry after eating all that Pastrami and Buffalo Wings with ranch dressing?

What was that for breakfast? Eggs and Bacon with a 1-minute muffin?

If you're hungry, eat more!

This WOE is NOT about starving yourself.

I think I'm going to go eat some sausage

oh....i just put some cream cheese between two pepperoni slices. i like the whipped cream cheese since it's easier to spread and you end up using a little less. voila. instant snack!

Try taking a couple slices of cheese and melting them on the skillet. Fold over the cheese while it's still gooey with some tomato sauce and pepperoni slices in the middle. Voila. Low carb calzone.
