Hi, my name is Bethany. I am not new to low-carb, but have just recently gotten serious about losing weight. We have a trip to Chicago coming up in mid-July, and I don't want to be huffing and puffing the whole time, trying to drag around all this x-tra weight I am carrying now. I've been doing really well. I've only lost 11 lbs., but I see a big difference in the way my clothes fit. Mom (QueenMama, a.k.a. Nita) is right--you can't go by the scales; you have to measure! I really need to get back into exercising. I have been a little lax the past couple of days. I have had a monster sinus headache, and haven't felt like doing much of anything. Today is a little better, so maybe I'll do a few minutes on the Cardioglide while watching a good movie! I have a great big goal. I need to lose over 150 lbs. But I'm setting much smaller goals to meet along the way. The first is to get below 300. I'd like to do that before our trip. One thing I noticed this morning is that it was much easier to tie my shoes!!! YAY!

| Welcome, Bethany! ![]() I started out on this forum weighing in at 390. So I know how getting to 300 is a big deal. I went below last year to 288 then for some bizarre reason went off plan for several months. Now I'm back on my way into the 2's. 11 pounds is a GREAT start. Never say "only" when talking losses. I know it's a hard mindset to get out of. So many of us are so apologetic for our weight. I just started the "250 or Bust" challenge. Nothing too difficult, just trying to get to 250. For me it's by the end of the year, but there is no real end date, just whenever it happens. 250 or Bust link Isn't it nice to feel better? Loose clothes are great but climbing stairs without wanting to die when I get to the top is even better!

Welcome, sweetie pie! You might want to start a journal, too. You'll get lots of encouraging visits from a lot of people who have been there. Check out the photo albums, too. Noel is very impressive, as is the big wig here, LC Andrea. April is another great success story, and so is Goddess. They've all come a long way. And Maggie's is a great story, too. Although she didn't have a tremendous amount to lose, she's been able to stabilize her blood sugar consistently and keep it stable. There are a lot of great stories here. Have fun!

welcome, bethany. we're delighted to have you. you're mom is a wise woman, but i think you probably already know that. i would echo noel's idea never to think of losses as "only 11 pounds" or whatever. every pound down is a good pound down! everything counts. you just keep on moving, and focus on making good choices now, reaching those smaller goals to stay encouraged, making good choices more often than not, and the future (and 150 pounds) magicially take care of themselves. what's not to love?! looking foward to getting to know you. peace out, dear.

Thanx everyone for your support! I skipped breakfast this morning--wish I hadn't. Had errands to do. By the time we got back home, we were starving! I made tuna salad w/ xtra mayo + a little vlasic sweet relish (w/ Splenda). I made Bob a sammy on wheat 'n fiber bread, and I ate mine w/ pork rinds. Oh, Bob had some pork rinds, too. We each had a piece of string cheese & a diet soda. Now we need to get a great big glass of water and start on that.
