| I'm back on induction for the Nth time. I was wonder any opinions on whether Shirataki Noodles would be OK during Induction. I expect to be on an extended Induction of up to 4 weeks. I do love those noodles. I would like to be able to use them. But if I need to, I can do without for a month.

| Tom, I found a link on Carbwire, and it says that the noodles have zero carbs and calories. http://www.low-carb.com/koshno.html Apparently they are all fiber. Hope this helps. |

| I would imagine they would be acceptable on induction, Tom. Those guys do nothing to my BGL's. (tested with just melted butter, grated cheese, salt & pepper) Since they don't raise the blood sugar, I would think they should be ok. I know they're pretty much all fiber, but I've gotta say that it's not the kind of fiber that I find is a big contributor to regularity for me. I find that some of my cereal or a couple of GG crackers are a lot more useful in that department. HTH's you decide about them.

| Thanks very much for the feedback. I was thinking they would be ok. But I wanted some response from somebody with more experience than I.

| Tom, I think they would be fine for induction. If you get the shirataki that has tofu added, there will be a couple of carbs and a few calories, presumably from the tofu, but clearly compatible with induction levels. Carrie, I get them at a couple of asian food markets. I have found that not all Asian markets carry them. Look for them in the refrigerated food section.

| They are available on the internet or locally at asian markets. The real asian markets where you can't read any of the signs. Let's see... Here is the thread that has lots of info on that: http://www.lowcarbeating.com/bb/show...ight=shirataki

| Hey all, today I just popped down to my local Asian grocery store looking for Shirataki noodles. Instead I found "yam noodle" packed in a liquid and it was all rolled up...like each individual noodle cluster. It has japanese written all over it and not a word of English so I dont know if they are the correct ones. The carb content thingo is in English and it says that theres about 13 grams of carb per 15-20 grams noodle (cant remember exactly) but 0grams from sugars....are these correct? Thanks alot all |

| Those are the Shirataki noodles. I believe it is called a white Yam. Usually the bag is full of liquid and the noodles are floating around in there. I've never seen them rolled up. Do a Google on Shirataki noodles and you will find an abundance of information and pictures on them.

Net grams of carbs are what most low carb plans count. Net carb grams are figured by taking the Total Carbohydrate grams and subtracting the Fiber grams. E.g., 10 grams total carbohydrate - 7 grams fiber ________ 3 grams net carbohydrate

| Here is a link that has a good picture and discription of Shirataki. What you are describing does not sound like the right thing http://www.lowcarbeating.com/bb/show...ight=shirataki

| I'm a big fan of asian store food shopping......there is only one brand of shirataki noodle I know of. Remember these stores pack more than 50 types of noodle. There are noodles made out of everything! Don't get confused! Just order them online, or try Whole Foods Market. These are great and worth the wait. |
