Hi, I have been doing the low carb eating lifestyle for 16 days now, that is, untill last night... My fiance had convinced me that this was not the right choice for us, and that it did not fit in to our lifestyle. So, I ate mashed potatoes with my dinner, and had cake afterwards. To be honest I felt horrible after, and the food wasn't even all that good. I've already lost inches on my waist, and have been feeling great about myself, so i really don't know why I did it. I have come to the conclusion that this is right for me, even if it's not right for him, and i'm am starting my induction over agian today. Next time I think about mashed potatoes or cake, I'm going to remember how it made me feel last night, and how great I feel when I don't eat that kind of food. I just thought I would share with you guys!

| Each person has to find what is right for them. You cannot dictate to your fiance, nor should he dictate to you, a particular approach. Hopefully he will adopt a method that is at least as healthy and sustainable as a low/controlled carbohydrate WOE. Good luck.

Great decision. You do what's right for you, what makes you feel good. Let you fiance follow his woe, you follow yours. Let him see for himself how much healthier you are for this. Keep it up, and come back when you need support.

My husband isn't much of a cook so he has been eating low carb dinners for 7 months now. Occasionally like last night we each had our own noodles, for me dreamfields for him regular pasta with shrimp, veggies and alfredo sauce. He eats what he wants for lunch while he's at work, but dinners are the healthy low carb dinners I prepare. He hasn't died from lack of potatoes yet. I don't know if I get away with it because we're married or because I do the cooking but I sure know that we get our share of veggies now and we don't leave the table hungry either. I wish you luck with it because in the beginning it's easier if your significant other is supportive.

I started this woe about 16 months ago. (My family:: a partner and 2 teenage sons have since all of a sudden slowed down on their consumption of bread, biscuits, cakes etc....Whether this is because they have felt my absolute delight in dropping 20-25 kg or 40-50lb without any extra excercise, and eating really really well.....(People at work are always commenting on my great lunches and telling me I should bring them lunch too.)...( and also being able to have a few drinks (but NOT at work...)and a treat here and there is great...........I still buy breads etc for them in the weekly shopping but they have been asking me to stop....So I say do your own thing and let your husband do his.... once he sees the weight loss and energy you gain...not to mention the confidence you gain by losing weight..He will be joining you....Good Luck.....................

I believe that a little "treat" now and then will not affect your overall diet. Make your low carb meals, let your partner have a little extra once a week to satisfy the cravings and keep him open to your menu choices. It'll keep him (and you) from binging if you allow a little bit of the craving foods once in a while. Once a week will not kill your diet!
