Question Back to Low-Carb

Greetings All,

Happy to find this website.

I did low-carb in 2002, and it was very successul (lost 25 lbs). Went off and went carb-crazy, back to the plan now! Doing Atkins, started 6-16-2006.

Questions, hoping I can get some resoonse / advice...

*** I work nights, 12 hour shifts from 8pm to 8am, working 5 days on, then 5 days off. I switch back to daylight hours on days off. Wondering if that may impact my weight loss attempts.

*** I am not finding nearly the selection of low carb products in the grocery stroe that I did in 2002, only bars and shakes. In 2002, I really enjoyed the low-carb ketchups and speghetti-type sauces that were available (great for Italian Sausage dishes). Any ideas?

*** In 2002, the Atkins site had a free, online journal to enter food consumed, water, excercise, thoughts, etc... and tracked it all. Appears that is no longer available. Currently trying to track via spreadsheet, but not nearly as fun / effective. Any ideas?

Any input is greatly appreciated!!!

I have heard that people who work overnight shifts should maintain that schedule evenon their days off. I would suggest you do more research or ask your doctor on that one.

Low carb products have pretty much disappeared, yes. I believe there is a low carb ketchup recipe on this site or at least in one of the many low carb recipe books that are still available. As for suace just read the ingredients and look for a regular one that is low in added sugar. Avoid sauces with added fructose, high fructose corn syrup and other sugars. Tomatoes (and sauce) do have natural sugars but the benefits of eating tomatoes (especially cooked) can out outweigh the naturally ocurring sugars.

As for tracking I suggest www.Fitday.com in combination with a journal here www.lowcarbeating.com/bb/forumdisplay.php?f=17.

The selection of low carb items, other than natural foods, available at stores has diminuished. Heintz 1 carb ketchup is still made and is available at many grocery stores, including WalMart. Other speciality low carb items are available on-line through sites such as http://www13.netrition.com/
