| Hello Everyone! My name is Libby, and I am new here to these boards. I just began a low-carb diet last Monday, and I am anxious to meet people who are in the same boat that I am in. Let me tell you my story. I am 21 years old, and I have 1 year left before I graduate with my bachelors degree in early childhood education. I work at a childcare center during the summer, and also at an educational store. I still live with my mom, dad, brother, and sister. I went throughout highschool fluctuating between 140-160 pounds and a size 4-12. This was within my normal range, as I am 5 feet 6 inches tall. I was used to being call skinny. However then, many things happened in my life. I started college, and I also started a medication for anxiety called Paxil. I gained over 100 pounds in 6 months. No one knew what was wrong with me. I went for CAT scans, hormone tests, you name it, but they all came back normal. It was a nightmare. My maximum weight was around 270 pounds. People did not recognize me anymore. When my doctor took me off of the Paxil, I quickly lost 60 pounds. The weight came flying off of me. However, I hovered around 210-212 for the longest time. I just could not seem to budge the last 40-50 pounds. I have very dense and big bones, so at around 210-212 pounds I am a big 14 or small 16 in size. I am now determined to lose the rest of the weight. I would be happy with a weight of around 160-170 pounds, because I have lots of baggy, loose skin that will account for some of that weight. I will one day probably need to get surgery to remove my extra skin. So in the past seven days, I have lost 8 pounds! I am down to 205.4 pounds now, and my 14 size pants are very baggy. I have been really discouraged for the past 3 days because I have not gained or lost any weight. But then today my "monthly visitor" came, so I know that my stall was probably because of my TOM. Just thought I would introduce myself! ~Libby |

| Welcome, Libby ![]() Try not to let the slow spots get you down. You've done very well so far and after TOM I'm sure you'll get back into losing. Remember the scale doesn't always reflect our losss, the baggy pants are a good way to let you know that you're new healthier way of eating is working.
