| Does anyone know if power pops are okay on atkins? If you haven't heard of them, they are lollipops with hoodia in them to suppress appetite.. they are very good, and only 4 carbs a piece (2 sugar carbs) ..any thoughts/ideas on them??Thanks!!

| Taylor-I hadn't heard of these, so I did a quick search. It sort of bothered me that of the half dozen sites or so I looked at selling these, not one listed nutritional info. They did say, however, that they contain sugar and corn syrup (i.e. another form of sugar). If you're asking if they are "Atkins legal," no, they wouldn't be because of the added sugar. Personally, I try to stay away from sugar as much as possible, as it starts cravings for me without exception. When I ignore this fact "just this once," I always end up paying for it. Obviously, the choice of whether or not to eat these are up to you. If you're interested in trying Hoodia, perhaps you could consider another method of delivery? I dunno. I guess it seems ironic to me to eat candy that is supposed to have appetite suppressant properties. Because after all, for me it would be the candy itself I'd want to suppress my appetite for to begin with. |

| I'm dating myself here, but these remind me of the old Ayds diet candies. Basically, they were small caramels that promised to supress appetite... just eat one or two with hot water 30 minutes before a meal. They didn't work for most people (not surprisingly). But people kept buying them because they were candies that "were good for you", LOL! I agree that it would be a better choice to experiment with Hoodia in a less sugary form.

| Ayds - yeah! speaking of candy addiciton - went through a whole box of those once - in a sitting - of course, they were caramels. I think I was sick for a couple days. after the bloating finally wend down.

| My mom used to get Ayds. And no, didn't do much for her, either. |

| Yep, my mom tried Ayds, too, and they didn't work for her, either. I'm still not sure about hoodia, either. I'd like to see more long-term studies on it before I jump in with it. Besides, eating low carb is a great, natural appetite suppressant. And if you drink all the water you are supposed to, that helps even more. If the label says sugar, I have to stay away from it. If it says corn syrup, even more, as I had an allergy at one time, and I really don't enjoy the itching from hives....... |
