Welcome, littlebugsy!

While none of those choices are what I would call low carb, you've come to the right place to get some starting information and support.

There are several popular low carb eating plans and most of them emphasize:

~non-starchy vegetables (i.e., green beans, cauliflower, broccolie, lettuces, bell peppers, zucchini, celery)
~high protein foods (fish, poulry, eggs, meat)

along with smaller amounts of

~dairy (cheese, butter, cream, sour cream)
~nuts (almonds, macadamia nuts, peanuts, walnuts)
~certain low glycemic fruits (berries and melons, mostly)
~alternative sweetners (i.e., Splenda and others, some may cause tummy aches - use cautiously)

avoiding most

~breads
~rice
~pastas
~starcy vegetables (potatoes, corn)
~sugars (including honey, molasses, fructose, corn syrup)

Plans may include whole grains and some starchier veggies (pea, carrots, winter squashes); but, often, not until later when one is closer to a maintenance level diet.

The best thing I can recommend is to get a book for one of the well-know low carb diets and learn why they work and how they work. If you don't know which to choose, these two books include great summaries of the most popular plans and tips and hints for making LC work for you:

~ Johnny Bowden's Living the Low Carb Life
~ Laura Richards' The Secret to Low Carb Success

The Atkin's Nutritional Approach is outlined at:
Atkins' 4-phases for low carb nutrition

Hiya LittleBugsy,
Teelbee gave you some GREAT suggestions. One point I would make though, is that most of us don't do low carb AND low calorie... some folks watch their calorie intake... but usually with low carb you are eating things that are higher in calories (thus you feel fuller and less hungry).

Good luck, and welcome!
Dee
