Hello everyone, wanted to thank you all for responding to my last post. My 2 weeks are up on induction and I lost 7 pounds. Little disappointed that it wasnt more. My question is...if I stay on the induction, under 20 carbs...will I keep losing about the same or is it going to slow down now? I think the next 2 wks I should lay off the cheese and slim jims. I know there is recipe board but what do you all eat for snacks that you can just grab and not have to cook up..thanks again oh,does anyone have a cheat day,I am scared that would just mess up everything i worked for..

fancyfree- are you following a specific plan? the best way to give yourself the best possible chance to be successful is find and follow a specific low-carb plan. while i've heard of the "cheat day" concept, i'm not aware of any actual, healthy lc plan that incorporates something as self-defeating as that. on your losses, 7 pounds is great! it's fine. everyone's losses are different and if you ARE losing anything, that means you're moving in the right direction. it's vitally important that you try to swith your mindset from the "speed demon" diet mentality where how fast is the only thing that matters to a "way of eating" approach where you are incorporating new habits that will help you stay slender for the rest of your life. i never suggest that people stay under 20 carbs, as that's simply too low. what i think would be the absolute most helpful for you at this point is to get yourself a copy of the atkins book if that's what you're doing, read it and try to follow the program. it will take some experiementing to find what does and doesn't work for you, but following the program will give you a good head start. nobody can tell you when, if, or how much your losses may slow down. some people have 10 pounds to lose, some have 50, some have 150 or whatever. people with more to lose tend to lose faster at first. people who drink plenty of water and incorporate some exercise tend to lose faster. people who avoid "cheat days" tend to lose faster. your best bet is to toss your calendar, find yourself some lc recipes and find ways to make this way of eating a part of your everyday life. there are also a ton of threads here with snack ideas. i would use the search for "snack ideas" or "easy snacks" or the like to see what you can turn up. good luck and peace out.

What goddess said. Those of us who have been practicing Atkins for a long time have discovered that his program really works to CHANGE eating habit and patterns in a really good way. It gives us confidence that we have a strategy for staying off the yo-yo coaster. Hope you can stick with it awhile and learn as you go. Best wishes.
