I am so overweight. i don't know what I weigh but I know my size 14's are cutting into me. I binge something terrible, I can't seem to get full enough or satisfied with carbs. My blood sugar is messed up and my mood swings are terrible. Dr. recommended low carb, says I'm hypoglycemic and my hormones are messed up due to blood sugar swings. I bought Loren Cordain's Paleo Diet book and will start tomorrow. I'm all done eating today and have been doing a lot of reading to ready myself for tomorrow. I'm so tired of headaches, fatigue, feeling fat and gross. I want to feel better. I hope to fit in here and be a part of the group. Anne

Hi Anne, welcome to the site. This is a great place for Low carb info, I've been following Atkins, haven't heard of Loren Cordain but hopefully it'll be as simple to follow for you as Atkins is for a lot of the people on this site. Most of the things you're unhappy about can change pretty quickly with the low carb lifestyle. I hope you'll like it. chelsea

| Hi Anne. Welcome. You have taken the first step in recognizing that you must make changes. The next step is to find a methodology that you can stay with and make it a Way Of Eating (WOE), rather than a diet because the reality is that if your selected methodology works for you, you will have to stay with it for life. Good luck.

thank you all. Yes Henry, I agree, that's why I'm going with paleo by cordain. I am one of those all or nothing people, I can't have a little of something and control myself. I have to completely rid myself of the temptation/poison. I think today might be easy, it's a few days down the road that will be toughest, when this all sets in and cravings begin. I'm mentally preparing myself though with lots of reading, support people like this board, I'm buying proper foods and ridding the home of trigger foods. I know it won't be easy but it will be worth it.

Anne, you're taking all the right steps. De-carbing your pantry, buying good foods, looking for support, knowing your triggers. You have no choice but to succeed, if you can follow through. Welcome, and come back often. In fact, why don't you start a journal so we can all visit you regularly?

Hi Anne, Congrats on doing and not just complaining. I am not familiar with, ?Cordain?s Paleo? either. Low cal I would assume, how low cal? If it is like Atkins then the cravings get less and less, not more and more. If you can eat as much steak as you want then binging really is not an issue. Have you looked into, one-minute muffins or mock Danishes yet? They are the best and Maggie?s cereal, to die for. With the sugar free syrups, flex meal, bran, protein powders. It is a completely new wonderful world, my 17-year-old daughter loves this stuff, and she is so much healthier cuz of it. (No weight issue at all) It takes a little tweaking to see what works best for you, like cheese is something I need to watch and nuts. Water is hard for me but I add crystal light and that works for me. Read a lot here it really helps?. Best of Luck?.
