| When taking a fiber supplement (only fiber, no sugar or flavoring) do you count the carbs listed on the product? It was my understanding that all fiber supplements list the carbs but as they are indigestible, they do not count. What say you? |

| Welcome. For most low carb programs, it is safe to discount the carbs from fiber. There are a couple of exceptions, such as Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution and the original Atkins plan (circa 1972). In general, however, fiber is about the only count one should deduct from total carbs to get the "net" carb count. All other deductions (such as sugar alcohols) are more "iffy" and should be considered to be part of your total carb intake until you have an opportunity to experiment and see how you react to them. HTH.
