Default Just about one year for me

Well dinner was a success, my first low carb Thanksgiving. December 4th will be one year of low carb for me, so I've done a Christmas already.

I skipped the yams, a quarter of a cup at 7 grams of carbs was just not fitting the equation today. I actually made stuffing/dressing with low carb bread and pork rinds, it was adequate but nothing to rave about, a bit of gravy tastied it up. For desert I made a pumpkin cheese cake with the jello recipe that Principessa posted a few weeks ago a little adjusting and voila I had a delicious desert.

I'm mainly posting because it's been quite around here lately. I was lurking around the boards a year ago reading the posts about all the success people were having. I decided to give it a try and found it works for me, now I want to do my part over the holidays to let people know that they can stick to it, lose weight and feel satisfied.

Congratulations Chelsea!! It sounds like you are well on the road to recognizing that you can really make low/controlled carb eating a WOE, rather than just a diet.

I am glad you were able to skip the sweet potatoes/yams....... I did not, but it was planned. I have been doing this WOL for almost two years and there is no turning back for me. I love the fact that I am never hungry and yet can eat such wonderful foods. I wish you much continued success!

Way to GO Chelsea!!!! I am so inspired when people figure out they can do this long term, that it's not just a temporary fix. I've been doing this for 5 years and will NEVER go back to my old ways, ever, ever, ever in a million years. It IS a WOL for me. And the LC lifestyle is finally spreading in my family!!!! My DD#2 has lost 40 pounds so far. She started a couple of months ago. She will eat this way the rest of her life too. And the COOLEST thing about all this is, she WILL NOT let her 15 month old have candy or sugary drinks. I'm SO proud of her.

You GO girl!!!!!!

Thanks for the congrats from everyone, it's nice to feel at home. This is definitely my way of eating from now on. I had my share of sugar and flour already and I think some other people's share as well.
Barb, it sure is good to read a post from you again. I have wondered where you've been hiding, your posts were a staple for me in the begining.

I know Chelsea, I've been SOOOOO missing in action. I'm unbelievabley busy with my job and managing my household, I barely get time to come up for air. I MISS ALL you guys here. Hopefully during Winter Break at school, I will have time to visit more!!!

Keep up the good work. Hang in there with this more difficult, holiday time. It will pass. If you have a few tastes here and there, don't beat yourself up. I have found that if I really watch it most of the time, a little "planned cheating" doesn't derail me too much. Just plan on it, get back to your important LC work and you will survive it!!!!!!

Talking Re: Just about one year for me

As far as losses go I'm down 21 pounds and two pant sizes. I feel great and overall I don't have the food cravings I've spent my life with.

I have been careful with fast weight loss because I did a lot of work to recover from an eating disorder which starts peeking around the corners at me when that scales moves too quickly. I have to be patient with the weight loss as to not trigger the old crazy thinking and just allow this to be my new way of eating not some cool new diet.

I can't even say what my total weight loss would look like. I guess another 20 to 25 pounds might be close but I have been so out of control before (with what I thought was my perfect weight) that I am letting my body go where it feels good without too much interference from me.

No worries though I have clothes in every size.

I'm there with ya!!! I think that's a healthy attitude. And if you are HEALTHY, that's the main goal. The weight loss is an added bonus!!!!
