| Hi Everyone. I don't know if anyone remembers me but I last posted over a year ago.....sorry guys!! I have tried every diet going and am suffering horribly with stomach pains and cramp due to the IBS that I have had for over 20 years. I have just had all the tests again with the camera and barium enemas etc, etc and still they say it is IBS. Personally I have had enough of it and if the doc's can't help me I have to help myself, so here I am, crawling back to you for help and advice. I was following Paleo last time but there was hardly anyone posting at the time and it doesn't look as if there are many people on there now either. To be honest I don't really know where to start this time, so if anyone can help me I would be eternally grateful. luv Lynn. x

| Welcome back, Louloo! Certainly missed you around here. We can't give you any kind of medical advice, but if you google "IBS", you'll find many educational, informational and support sites. Maybe that will give you a start on exploring the issue.

| No medical advice here, either; however, I have read other people's postings who claim that low carb helps with IBS. Why not get a couple of books on the various low carb plans, read up on them, see which one will fit your lifestyle best, and then try one out. And let us know if you have any success controlling your IBS with low carb. Personally, I am following the Atkins plan, but there are some who also follow South Beach, The Zone, etc., and most of us are having success coping with various health problems as long as we stick to our plan. Wishing you much success, Louloo! |

| Hi Maggie, how nice to speak with you again, I hope you are well. I wasn't asking for advice on IBS or associated problems, I am an authority on that I can assure you, LOL. I want to get back to low carb and if you remember I bought so many books I could have opened my own shop. Unfortunately I passed them all on so no longer have them. I wondered if you could advice me on a plan because I am wheat and lactose intolerant as well and I don't know whether or not to start with Atkins or if there is a gentler plan that you could advice me of. Low carb should suit me very well now but I don't look forward to feeling as ill as I did on Atkins. Hi to you too QueenMama....wonderful name. How are you getting on with Atkins and how long have you been doing it? If you can give me some tips on getting started....I have forgotten everything that I ever read....I would be very grateful. Hope to chat more soon. Take care and thanks for replying to me. luv Lynn. x

| Well, of course I'm partial to the Atkins nutritional approach, since it has been so helpful to me. I've found it easy to understand and maintain as a way of living. Whatever plan you have in mind ... you know the "mantra" around here: "Get the book and read it." Several people here are currently using the older Atkins program - the simplest and most effective route to getting one's metabolism straightened out. If you can get a copy of one of the earlier Atkins books, that might be a place to start.

If you meant during induction, why not skip induction and go straight to the ongoing weighloss phase? I wouldn't normally suggest someone skip induction, because it's so great for halting food cravings. But if the very idea is holding you back, it seems like the simplest thing is to do is jump into the ongoing weightloss phase. Personally, I never went through a real induction and that didn't stop me from reaching my goal weight.

| Thanks Maggie. Unfortunately I don't have any Atkins books yet as I gave all the ones I owned away when I went back to low fat eating. I shall buy some later but for now I am using the Atkins web site to learn all about it again. Hiya Teelbee, how are you? Its great to be back meeting old friends again. Yes I was so ill on induction but I perhaps went a bit too low on carbs to have a quicker weight loss. This time I am not in a hurry as I don't have too much to loose, so I will be more careful. I am reading on the Atkins web site so hopefully I shall be able to re-start soon even without the book. That is a good idea to miss induction and start from the next phase. I will see what happens when I start and let you know how I get on. I have to go shopping for all the rights foods as the house is full of pasta, rice, cereals and all the bad foods again. I still have the problem of not liking meat, so I shall have to work around that somehow, but I am keen to start although what a bad time with Christmas nearly here, ha-ha. Take care, I will be back soon. luv Lynn. x
