Default Kimmer plan newbie

Hello all!
I have decided to take drastic measures to get these pesky 12 pounds off!
Today I start the Kimmer's 3 Day Diet. Zero carbs. After those 3 days I'll see how I feel and if I want to add some more carbs in or keep going.

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs with a little bacon.

Lunch: 2 eggs

Supper: meat or chicken
Plus lots of water!

My goal is to be rid of this weight by the end of this month! Wish me luck!

Good Luck Josie! I don't know if I could do it. I do Atkins, and I'm on induction right now at 20 carbs per day.

What do you eat besides eggs and meat?

Josie, I've seem the Kimmer plan mentioned on Carbwire, but really don't know much about it. She doesn't give much info on her website. Can you give us an idea of how it works in the long term, what foods are allowed during long-term weight loss? How it compares to Atkins, SBD, Zone, etc.

Anyway, welcome, and wishing you much success.

I'm somewhat familiar with Kimmer's "plan" and if I recall, it's a meat/egg fast. It's recommended for 3-5 days for quick induction followed by the very slow addition of minimal carbs through veggies. I believe however, she and many others have done strictly lean meat/eggs for weeks/months on end.

I've tried it....and you do lose very quickly at first (I did 5 day) but once you add in some carbs, you always gain back 2-4 lbs. (starvation mode maybe?).

She's also an advocate of all the diet soda you want while doing the fast as she isn't a water drinker.

IMHO...it's just not healthy for long term.

josie-while i wish you luck, i do hope you eventually reconsider your plan. while i'm not familiar with the kimmer plan specifically, the routine you're describing is a crash diet, which i have never found to be effective in the long term. as soon as the "diet" is over, the weight comes back with a vengence.

and severe restriction of vegetables seems pretty unnecessary (and unhealthy) anyway. i've never met anyone who has problems with their weight from eating too many veggies, myself. i never suggest anyone go below 20 grms of carbs a day.

at the very least, do make sure you're taking a good multivitamin supplment to replace some of the nutrients you would normally get from veggies.

peace out.

I'll chime in on the opinion that green veggies are crucial to healthy weight loss. People do so much better at weight loss in the long term when they make healthy choices into a lifestyle change. There are lots of low carb veggies that you can incorporate and still keep your net carb level quite low.

Some years ago, an "egg fast"* was something of a fad on these boards. It seemed to me that everyone one who tried it for a few days reported regaining all the weight they lost. So, it was a wasted effort.

~~~
* I think it was inspired by a "reinterpretation" of Dr. Atkins fat fast, which the doctor used only in a very few extremely rare cases of people he judged were metabolically resistant to losing weight.
