Hi all, I have just started LC a week ago for the second time. The last time I only stayed on it for a couple of months. I found this website and decided that I need all the help and encouragement I can get for my second time around. I am 62 years old and weigh 350 pounds. I have health issues and really need to lose some weight. I have been heavy all my life and was always on a diet. I finally couldn't handle the diets anymore. I'm looking at this as a healthy way of eating and not thinking of it as a diet. Are there any other's that have lots of weight to lose, or have already lost a lot of weight. I would love to hear your success stories. I've already felt encouraged from reading some of the stories. Thanks to the gal who told me how to post. Carrole

Welcome, Carol. Look at the top of this page, you'll see 4 tabs, Learn, Share, Cook, and Shop. Click on the Learn tab, and at the bottom of that page you'll see a blue box, and there you will see success stories. They are very encouraging. I am 54, on my 4th or 5th year of low carbing, this being my 3rd try. It was lots quicker when I was younger. I have lost about 75-80 lbs, most of it the first 3 years, and now I measure my losses in ounces, not pounds, since I went through menopause. It seemed to put the brakes on my easy weight loss. Of course, your metabolism might be totally different from mine, but be aware that it does get harder with each passing year. I was just about at your weight when I started this last journey. You have the right attitude - this is NOT a diet, it is a way of eating (woe) or way of life (wol), and all of us here feel so much healthier, even though many of us still have a long way to go as far as weight loss. I'm sure I wouldn't be nearly as healthy at my current weight if I were eating what I ate before. Again, welcome, and we're glad to have more - mature - members here!

Thank you QueenMama, I got on tonight and found your message, it means so much to have others tell about their struggles and their commitment to continue. I have tried to start working in a little exercise but have been so tired and weak. Today, I did well. I went to Wal-mart and parked clear out at the far end of parking lot and and of course walked a lot in the store. I also visited SAM"S CLUB and walked there. I think it is going to take a while to get use to so few carbs, but I will do it. Thanks again and for the info. I'm not real good on the computer so is taking me a while to figure out what all I can read and do. You have been so helpful. Carrole
