| Hi everyone My name is Sean from Hamilton Ontario Canada and I decided to stop lurking and finally say something Anyway the good news is my student loans came in and I have stocked my fridge with healthy low carb foods and I started induction on Tues.:jumpgreen I can so tell by how my body feels when I am eating right and when I am not that I cannot eat sugar and starches and expect to maintain a healthy wieght. I felt a bit sluggish the first few days but I went into ketosis on Thurs and since then I feel much better.I have lost 5.5lbs in six days. Been having headaches but think that is due to caffiene withdrawal (was drinking 5-6 ex-lg timmies a day). Since I'm past the energy slump I will be hitting the gym on Mon. since working out was a key component in my wieght loss last year. So it is great to be back sorry for the long post and I have been reading all the threads which really helps me focus and keeps me grounded in a way of life I know I have to follow. Its all about change which I know is possible....look at me 48 years old and I've gone back to school. We will talk later I am sure. Time to make lunch...tuna melt and avacado and a spring mix salad yummmie.

| Sean, I too felt so much better eating low carb...then, I don't know stress, I guess, I went back to my old eating habits. I have now gained 15lbs. back. I'm so disgusted with myself. I have made several attempts to initiate induction again...it seems harder than the first time I did it. Did you find it was harder the second time around? I just keep getting discouraged. Any words of wisedom to share? You sound like you have managed so well. Anxious....D |

| Hi Sean and welcome. I totally sympathise with you, I am at University and I know how difficult it is to watch your eating in a student environment. In the UK, particularly, it seems that sandwiches are the preferred lunch of choice, that and chips ("chips" here are fries), but not like you get in America. Hang on will go find a photo!

| Welcome, Sean! Sounds like you know exactly what you need to do and are in the process of doing it. Doesn't it feel so much better when you are taking good care of yourself? Congrats on your strong re-start and be sure to visit us here often. It helps. And hello, Ned2befit; hope you find your path. I know for me, the more thought and energy i put into being angry with myself, the harder it is to make good choices for me. i think feeling bad IS fattening! please do be kind to yourself, and focus on making helpful choices today, not what you did yesterday or last week or whatever. if you're having trouble getting started, you may want to begin simply cutting out sugar from your diet and drinking more water. that's a pretty easy way to make big strides toward a low-carb lifestyle without lots of tracking or stress. good luck to you both! |
