I fancied some the other day so made them. Ended up having breakfast the next day consisting of 2 revolution rolls, 1 tablespoon of cream cheese and a slice of smoked salmon. I was in heaven, and full till lunchtime!

Yes! I think they're yummy. They're very good re-heated in the toaster oven, just till the outside is a little crisp. With some butter, they remind me of croissants.

Has anyone managed to make them without cheese? I am going to try that next in my effort to go dairy free.

Yes. I've used flax meal and wheat protein isolate, instead of any cheese at all. They still are fine.

I think the trick to this (as it appears you understand full well, from the picture ) is getting the egg whites nice and stiff, lightening the yolk mixture, and then folding properly so as not to deflate the whites. This appears to be true whether using cheese or flax.

Hey

Yes I am quite good at getting them fluffy.

I have issues with flax, I do not lose weight with it, shame as I love it.

Anyway, I made them with mayo instead of cheese, slighty different taste, but well worth it in order to go dairy free.
