Thumbs up Me Again ...

Hello ... I am Lady_Bear aka Karen & so I hope that there is ROOM for 1 MORE. Well, here is a bit about me ... Married to a wonderful man for 29 years tomorrow { APRIL 1st }. We have 3 wonderful children - 26, 23, 18 the youngest will graduate from HIGH SCHOOL in May & the oldest will also graduate in May from COLLEGE so it's going to be a busy time around these parts. I also enjoy collecting teddy bears & postcards.

So, that is a bit about me but I will be back later to share more ... as my husband is wanting to take me out today so I have a lot to do before tonight so take care and see you all soon !!

So, can you tell us a little about which low-carb plan you are following? Have you ever done low-carb before? How much do you have to lose?
There is a WEALTH of information on this site, so be sure to take a look around!

Lady_Bear,

Forgive me if I am pointing out the obvious, but this is a site dedicated to LOW-CARB EATING.
I'm just curious why you would choose THIS site if you have no intention of eating this way?
We do have wonderful recipes available here, but they are primarily for a low-carb lifestyle.
You have stated that you have type 2 diabetes (as do I); well, this way of eating is IDEAL for managing healthy bgl's and for losing weight.

I guess the reason why I am asking you all this is because of your somewhat vehement denial of being on

Yes, your statements are confusing... I am wondering if we're just misunderstanding?
Is it that you haven't chosen a Low Carb plan yet? Or are you just testing the waters with your family to see if Low Carb Eating is right for all of you?

Please help us understand so we can help you more.

I'm so glad we cleared that up! LOL!

As you are trying to decide, please be aware that there are many low carb plans out there:

Atkins
Carbohydrate Addicts
South Beach
Paleo

to name just a few... (and most of which have their own forums here on LCE)

So, if the one you're currently trying doesn't seem to be quite the right "fit" (ie. perhaps you started with Atkins but decided you'd prefer a little bread in your diet, then maybe South Beach is the way to go, etc.) then I highly recommend you look into another plan that may fit better before giving up on LC altogether.

Also, your family should be aware that they may feel "yucky" for the first few days. (Sometimes called the LC Flu). What is happening is your body is detoxing from all the sugar and processed junk that it's been fed. So, I also recommend that before you scrap a plan you should give it a couple of weeks. (Drinking A LOT of water will help tremendously with the yuckiness).

Finally, come here and ask questions often. This is a wonderful resource with a ton of FREE information and a wealth of knowledge. (How great is that?!)

So, once again, WELCOME! We're glad you're here.
