Talking Low Carb Bake Mix Vs Carbquick

Hello everyone. I am new to this site and woe. I have been low carbing now for 5 weeks with a good rate of success. I am now venturing into new ways of cooking and trying new things. I was wondering when a recipe notes carbquick as an ingredient, can you use low carb bake mix (Bob's Red Mill)in it's place and would the qty be the same?

I have enjoyed this site so much over the past few weeks. Everyone here is so wonderful and so supportive.

Hi Christina and welcome to LCE. I would say those two ingredients would be interchangeable, you may have to tweak the liquid or fat in the recipe a bit since I'm not familiar with Bob's mix.

One thing to keep in mind, if you notice your weight loss slows or you stall, the bake mix could be the culprit. While it's a handy item to have in your kitchen, I know others have mentioned that it has stalled them.

Hope you make yourself at home!

Thank you for the quick response. I just wanted to use it to make some occassional "treats" for myself and my boys. I plan on "tweaking" there eating to. So far they have not noticed a change! Although my dh is not so easy to fool! haha

While you may be able to substitute Bob's l/c baking mix in a Carbquick recipe, you should be aware that Carbquick contains levening and Bob's does not. Therefore, you will also have to add levening to your recipe to make up for the lack of it in Bob's.
