| Hi, My name is Scott. I have done low carb in the past and I have been very happy with my results. Since I got married in 2004 I have put on 40lbs. I really need to lose that weight and get back down to 160lbs. I really want to change my eating habits, and start excersizing too. Also I have bad sciatica and the excess weight I have been carrying around has made the sciatica really bad. Right now I am in so much pain. I know I will feel better when I start losing the weight. I am really going to need support to stick to the WOE. I have been on Low carb before but I always end up going off of it, and instead of going back on...I just never do. I am finding that I am out of breath very fast, and I am very lazy. I do not want to be this way anymore. I just had to go out and buy new clothing, because my pants and shirts were too tight. This is not a way I want to live.... Please give me any advice that you can. What types of foods that you recommend, and any type of excersizes that you may recommend. Thanks, Scott |

| Hi, Scott. Nice to see you here again. The very best advice I can give you is "pick a plan and get the book." (Some things never change, huh?

| HI Scott, Welcome back to LCE! Maggie's recommendation of getting a book is right on. It is invaluable during your weight loss journey. As far as types of foods to eat, I would say stick to *whole* foods like fresh meats, veggies, etc and avoid the LC *junk foods* that have sugar alcohols. Those foods often effect different people in different ways, as far as stalling weight loss and elevating blood glucose levels. So, use care if you decide to incorporate those types of foods into your plan. Drink plenty of water...at least eight 8oz glasses a day, more if you can manage it. Incorporate some type of exercise into your life. Walking is great and you can start out slow and build your way to fitness level walking or jogging. Post often and let us know how it's going. We are glad to have you back here at LCE. hth

Hey Scott. Nice to see you back!i'm sorry to hear you've been having a tough time, but glad to hear you have decided to get back on the lc track because of it. besides the good advice you've gotten already: i would suggest you might want to look at what sort of things caused problems for you before. were you bored with what you were eating? stressed? surrounded by off-plan foods? to be successful in the long-term, you have to find ways to turn lc'ing from a diet into just the way you eat. so if you can identify the problems from the past, you can make plans to help you avoid the trouble and make it easier. i'm always for making things as easy as possible! i found getting a couple lc cookbooks great for getting ideas. a lot of the stuff you used to eat can be adapted or replaced with some changes into carb-friendly choices. it's a matter of changing habits. i would also suggest you start small with the exercise and work your way up. just start doing stuff that you know is better for you, and don't stress yourself about how fast or how much. your real goal here is to change your habits-so work on replacing habits that aren't working for you with more adaptive ones. you may want to target a start date and make your plans in the meantime. however you decide to approach it, we're over here rooting for you! please let us know how it goes. peace out. |
