On the Atkins site under "recipes", what does the % mean? For example the homemade chicken soup recipe is net carbs: 1 gram then there's a 58% off to the side. Probably not important, just curious. Also any other good sites for recipes, or are the ones here on LCE the best of the best after all the research was done? Thanks guys! Cin

Cin-The recipies at LCE have been accumlated from a variety of different places, and as such, don't represent the culmination of any specific research or recommendations other than the authors/contributors. However, many of them taste very good from my personal experience. If you go to the low carb cooking thread, there are some VERY accomplished chefs in the room and you can get help evaluating recipies and figuring out what you might like, if that's something you're looking for.

incidently, i did look at the homemade chicken soup recipe on atkins and wasn't able to see any percentage sign. i'm not sure if i'm looking at it differently, or your browser is set differently or what. but i tried to look.

You're right about the %, I look at the recipe and it's not there, so I'm thinking...I'm totally insane! But now I see that it occurs when you type the recipe name in the "Search" box and the items on the drop down have the %. Still don't know what it means but it really doesn't matter! Thanks again for your input and time! This site and this forum is so cool...it's keeping me out of the refridgerator a bit more!!

| Cidnerella, here is another web site that I find quite helpful: http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/ It is the UDSA Nutrient Database. It will give you an unbiased carb count on just about any food. I find it particularly helpful in determining the carb count of a particular recipe. I always check the carb count despite what a recipe may say. I have found too many instances where the stated count was incorrect. Therefore, I do my own as a double check.

cinderella-from what your are describing, the % sign is most likely a coding anomaly on the page and has no real significance.
