Question Brie Cheese carb count question!

Regarding Brie cheese...The package says carbs: 0 and I know we should count 1 gr. carb per oz. but when I went to the "riley.nal.usda.gov-NDL" site, it still comes up zero and so I experimented and entered the whole package (4.5 oz) and the carb count was 0.58! Am I missing something, or could Brie cheese be the answer for zero carb replacement for all those recipes with cream cheese?
I'm a Newbie and ignorant, so please bear with me, but I LOVE cheese and want to get those 3 - 4 oz any way I can!

If saving .62 g carbs per ounce will help you stay within your daily carb allowance I say go for it!

    Hi Cin,
Are you thinking of replacing cream cheese with brie in ALL recipes, even desserts?
I don't think the taste and texture would equal cream cheese, especially in dessert recipes.
    JMHO though.

I totally agree, I guess I had forgotten what it tasted like! I had it with the OMM and it was pretty pungent! The last time I made it, I baked it with walnuts and homemade caramel sauce and it was awesome but that was B.L.C. (before Low Carb) With all these great syrups out we could probably invent something similar. Actually Mascarpone is just like cream cheese but creamier and the brand I bought was 0 carbs as well, (though I know to still count it as 1) but too expensive for continual use. I'm just experimenting with things and learning so I thank you very much for the info and input!
I have gotten such great information this forum. In fact my DH and I just got back from Cracker Barrell and I can't remember the last time I allowed myself to go out and eat like that! That is so neat that they have a "Low Carb" menu!! Hey all you LC'ers, We have arrived!
