Smile newbie here needing advice!

Hi all, i am a 24 year old girl and live in the UK!
I am starting my 'Low Carb' Healthy way of lviing tommrorow on tuesday, ive learnt from the passed that 'mondays' dont work for me, so im shaking it up and changing it!

I suffer with endoemtriosis and gained 70lb through medication then the rest was through depression...from gaining weight!!!

there are many foods i cant actually eat through allergies/intolrance.
I was really mis-informed about 'low carb diets' and the first time i tried it 4 years ago, i bascailly thought i could eat what i wanted! that meant bacon throughout the day, cheese all the time etc......... funny enough i didnt lose any weight!! :o

but reading more into healthy diet ands carbs arent even a natural food!
i have many food alleriges and kept on eating this food thinking id die without!! how stupid!!!

anyway! i have bought all of my food for tom & this week, i dont crave bread or anything like that, i dont really like chocolate but i want it if i cant have it....that will be my biggest 'battle' if you will!

any tips? i already drink water, its all i drink nothing else!!!! love it! i want to weight once a week at first then when i know its working ill space it out every 2weeks/month ive measured myself as well!

i find exercise quite hard because i get alot of pain, but ive bought a treadmill & some other things!!

i wont be eating any packaged foods so no need to count carbs.......and i dont eat out...lol!

Thanks!!!

If you are doing Induction on Atkins you will need to count carbs. Even coffee has carbs. Fitday.com is a big help to track everything you eat and your progress as well. Good Luck!

Hello, and welcome,

My advise to you would be measure yourself. The scale goes up and down too much. Also some people use Ketostixs they will let you know that you are burning your fat.

The first three days IMO is the hardest, but once you get past that it becomes much eaiser. Just count your carbs and stay under 20 for the first two weeks. Try not to eat too much beacon, but you can have it and cheese does have carbs so you need to count that as well. Same as coffee as I have learned. It's good that you drink water that is the best for you and try to have most of your carbs from veggies. I have about 12-14 from veggies and the rest from others, Cheese, eggs, coffee, salad dressings, spices and splender.

Welcome again and Good Luck

Welcome. You've chosen a good place for support.

Most of us don't worry about coffe carbs. Some can drink pots and pots of coffee, and still lose. I personally switched to decaf, just because I didn't like what caffeine was doing to me.

Concentrate on high-quality protein, good low carb veggies, and you should have lots of success. You are young, so you have that going for you, too. Young people can lose way faster than us older folks. Keep up with the water guzzling, too.

The scales can be deceptive. Measuring is a better indicator of your progress. Don't worry about ketostix, either. They are merely a tool, and some people lose quite nicely without them ever turning purple. Everyone is different. Some have posted that they don't see any indication on the stix - and panic! You do not need the stix. You can lose without them.

I wish you much success on your low carb journey.
