Question how much did you lose in your first week/month?

hi all, i know everyones different but how much did you lose in your first week/month? might give me a bit of a idea of how much is 'normal' to aim for.

and take my mind off of losing 100lb in the first month haha!!!

Hi and Welcome !! This is the greatest board that you could have joined, Everyone here is so friendly and helpful you will get all the support that you need to help you on your LC journey to weight loss and feeling better.

Personally I am just starting over the low carbing way of life. Today has been 1 week and I am down 5lbs. I think that is my average which isn't bad. It differs for everyone thou and depends on alot of factors. Everyone else will post different I am sure, since it varies so greatly. Good luck with all your goals

Lost five pounds first week, But scale goes up and down each day so I would go more by how many inches you will lose.
I took measurements (only waist and stomach) that's where all my weight is.....
Waist went down about 2 inches started at about 36"....now down to 34". and my stomach (measured at the point of where belly buttom is)went from 40 inches to 37 inches:jumpgreen

Welcome aboard! I Just completed my 2nd week of induction. I am discouraged but am going to stick it out. I just keep reading over all the messages in this forum and I know I'm not the only one who has had fluctuating results. The first week I lost 4 pounds, then a couple days later I weighed myself and had gained it back, and I was totally on plan, doing everything right and can't figure out why. I weighed myself twice this week and 2 lbs. of it came back off each time so now after 2 weeks, still only the 4 pounds and though I wanted to quit I didn't, but I think I would have had it not been for this great site!
So my advice to you is NOT to weigh in very often, like they say over and over..."the scale is a cheat and a liar"! I think perhaps my problem is my portions. Something about the word "unlimited" makes me go a little crazy, so I think I need to cut down on my portions a bit. It's not that I'm that hungry, think I am just bored and what do you do when bored? EAT! I joined the "Walking Challenge" and hop on my Gazelle twice a day which I hope will help. Regardless, I want to stick to it, and not be discouraged as I hope you do as well! Try not to dwell on the scale and the weight and just change your eating habits and outlook! Now I need to listen to my own advice, don't I? Good Luck to you and welcome, and don't be a stranger to this forum...it ROCKS!!

Hi

I'm not really sure how much weight total I've lost since starting this WOE again. I was a bit of a coward about getting on that scale so I avoided it for the first week. I know that when I finally did dare get on it I was 226.8 lbs. And this morning I was 219.2 lbs. its been a month. Doesn't seem like alot.. but i can feel the difference and again I'm not really sure what I lost that first week. Anyway.. I just got a pleasant surprise a few minutes ago from someone here at work. I stood up to help him with something and he said WOW you're starting to lose some weight huh?? So needless to say that made my day!!!

Welcome.

I think you'll see that everyone loses at a different rate depending on numerous factors. I was a very slow loser, losing only a few pounds during induction. Over the course of two years, I lost about 55 lbs, about 1/3 of my starting weight. There were many ups and downs and "no changes" along the way.

Other people have much faster results.

The benefit of slow loss is that one's new eating habits become ingrained, and much less conscious effort is involved.

Hello and welcome!

I started this WOE about 8 weeks and 4 days ago. So far I have lost 22 lbs. I think 8lbs during induction. I am very happy with this WOE - it does get easier. I have noticed now when I go the grocery I don't even want the bad stuff. I can tell you that you will get very frustrated at first when the scale doesn't move. I know I did, and I kept thinking am I doing all this for nothing? But after just a couple of weeks you will notice a change in your body, mood and mind set.

I wish you well on your journey. Everyone here is so wonderful - whenever you get discouraged just read through this site and you will see your not the only one.

Together we can do it!!!!!!!!!!

hiya thanks! iu am aiming for 14lb in the first month, which i feel is realalistic as i am quite heavy and i know i could lose double that but my aim is 14lb !! so thats only 3lb per week -ish lol!

Started at 228.5 mid-January. I'm 6'2" so fortunately I was only about 20% above my desired weight of 190. I lost about 5-6 pounds the first week. Lost about 10 the first month. 3 months in I'm down to about 209. Been sorta stuck between 208 and 212 for a few weeks. I've plateaud 3 separate times for 2-3 weeks at a time. Which I'm okay with (better than gaining weight). But I'm ready to focus for the next 2-3 weeks and close in on 199.

I don't measure myself. All I can say is that my clothes fit great, have had to take a few things in to get altered and in about 5 more pounds I'll have lost 2 notches on my belt!

Don't get discouraged!! Enjoy the journey.

PS --- made my first OMM last week...... yumm!

Cindrella- I do find a difference for me between when I eat until I feel "full" versus eating until I am no longer experiencing hunger. It takes some practice, but once you get adjusted to it, it starts to become natural. You know what I mean.

Even low carb, it's less eating "as much as you what" as eating "as long as you're hungry."

I don't know about you, but for me, eating as much as I wanted didn't work too well for weight loss!

i know this is a challenge, but i would really encourage you to do your best to not count the days too much, and focus on the behaviors themselves you want to cultivate instead of the pounds-down metric. i know the allure, believe me, but you cannot depend on the scale. and it's only one of many measures of progress, not the REAL progess, which is getting healtier, more fit, a better shape, etc. you know what i'm saying? if you have a pounds-by goal to shoot for, even if you do very well and make excellent progress, if you miss that arbitrary goal you've set, you'll end up feeling crummy for no good reason.

nothing i know if is more fattening than feeling crummy. you know what i'm saying, man? bad feelings are bad news for weight management. so why set yourself up?

if it's of any consolation after my "toss out your calendar" speil, however, those looking to lose a larger amount of weigth often lose it quicker, especially in the beginning.

hiya thanks yeah i know, but i just wanted to see if 14lb was a realistic goal, i just want to make sure i lose 28lb in 2 months (which i know is possible for me) as i have a hspital appointment, after that i dont mind!!! but i know im not craving anything i feel alot cheery already, i know my down fall is the evening but im telling myself no, theres no reason because its evening to eat a giant bar of choc for no reason!!!!
i want to be healthy and try and reduce my endometriosis pain by lsoing weight & cutting out crap food! thats my main goal!...............but it is nice to see them pounds fall off..............
