| Welcome, Kat. Why are you on no carbs? Which plan are you following? I'm not familiar with any "no carb" programs.

Sometimes people think low-carb means "no-carb." Nothing could be further from the truth. Healthy carbs-like veggies!-are actually a staple of the low-carb lifestyle. While ditching sugar won't hurt anyone in my opinion, dropping the veggies from your diet is a BAD idea. I would be surprised if you reported feeling anything but lousey under those circumstances. To do low-carb properly and safely, you need to select a plan, get the book for your selected plan and follow it. Many people here follow Atkins, but it's by far not the only alternative. A paperback version of Atkins New Diet Revolution will run you about $6. It will be the BEST six dollars you spend in your life if you decided to do so. In the meantime, you might want to hop over to the Atkins website to get some idea of what sort of veggies are suggested. (Caveat: We usually suggest people avoid the prepackaged "low-carb" products sometimes suggested by Atkins company, especially early on. People do best with natural foods, from my observations.) Please resume eating your vegetables, and put your weight-loss efforts on hold until you take the time to get educated. If you do low-carb "by the book," after a few days of getting any sugars detoxed from your system, you can expect to feel lessened appetite, increased energy, and, in general, just pretty darned good! If you feel like crap, that's a big indication something is amiss. Please do let go of the notion that an eating plan has to be extreme or painful to help you lose the weight. The beauty of low-carbing is that, done properly, it's easy, it's healthy, and you feel great while you're making changes that you can permanently incorporate into your lifestyle. Please start doing some reasearch and let us know how we can help. Peace out. |

| I am using atkins but by the time I modify it to what I can(like)eat its working out to be no carbs or really low. To start with I am lactose intolerant that right their cuts out alot no cheeses, milk products of any kind and most of the soy products are out too. I can do butter in small amounts.I also can't tolerate fish or nuts of any kind. As far as vegies go I like greenbeans, broccoli, corn, carrots, and lettuce And two are not on the approved list. The good news is not having sugar has not been a problem I never did like sweets much. So as you see its been a hard first week. |

| Kat- Sorry to hear you've been having a rough time of it...if you're finding the choices on Atkins too restrictive for you within the parameters of what you want to be eating, perhaps you may want to consider other low-carb plans? No one approach works for everyone. Have you reviewed South Beach, perhaps? Just a thought... |
