I ate a caesar salad today (no dressing, no croutons). It had some grilled chicken on it. I enjoyed it.

Having said that, I'm looking into eating some pickles (pretty sure that's ok), and jalapenos. Maybe even some "pickled jalapenos". Hopefully that book gets here soon.

My wife's worried about me not eating, and I had to reassure her tonight that if I was hungry, I would eat.

Thanks for the support and information! I wish I knew about this site back when I was doing it before.

Just an update: I got my DANDR today, and I'm currently reviewing it. So far, I've been doing well for induction. I think the meds I'm on may be inhibiting weight loss, but I'm in no rush. They're necessary, so I have to take them :(

By the way, I appreciate all the support!

Hey Alvin. Great to hear your update!

And a wise fellow you are, understanding that you have to wait it out. I don't even have to pull out my stock "patience, grasshopper" speil. No doubt others reading the thread will be silently thanking you for this.

The way I see it, if pounds come off fast, they'll go back on fast. If they come off slow, they'll stay off better. At least that's what I've experienced in my crazy fluctuations of weight over the years (I went from 135 to 225 in under five years).

I blame the Marine Corps, and rightfully so: In boot camp, we were conditioned to eat fast and eat what you could, because you might not get another meal for a while. I was VERY active, and my appetite increased accordingly. Once I got out of boot camp, I still had my eating habits, but was no where NEAR as active as before. This is when the pounds started to pack back on.

Sorry for my rant... Just having an off-day. I miss beer.

You are dead on correct about time/weight loss. It's been my experience and observation that an extended journey toward a normalized weight is a good predictor of ability to maintain. Taking one's time permits a whole new set of habits to be learned about eating choices ... how, when, what, etc.

Eventually, there can be a place for beer in your way of eating. It just may be a little different (how much, when, what kind).

Alvin, good to see another Illinoisan here!!! Welcome aboard. Well, I think you've gotten the message about veggies, so I won't rant about those. I think cream cheese stuffed jalapenos sound really good!!!! Just do 'em without the breading. You could pipe your own if you have a frosting piper. (or just soften some cream cheese in a baggie in the mic, but watch it so it doesn't get too hot!!!) and pipe that into some cleaned out, halved peppers. YUMMERS!!!! (My mouth is now watering too!)

Beer? I indulge OCCASIONALLY in a Mich Ultra. But wait on those until you are well into OWL!!!!

Again, welcome aboard!
