Default Nutritional labels

Hello everyone! Wanted to share a new find. I was searching the web trying to find nutritional info, for things like carrots and celery and such. Well I found this website called calorieking.com - you can search and find just about any food you want on there. I think it's really cool because you get the info in the form of a nutritional label.

Another little tid-bit - so far I have lost 42lbs and well I think dh is getting a little envious, he started doing Atkins with me Monday! It's kinda funny because when I started doing this he thought some of the things I ate were weird

- well now he is asking me to make them for him - isn't that a hoot?

What a cool site! I'm going to bookmark it on my home computer.

Congratulations on losing the 42 lbs!

Men! They think some of our low carb food is weird? What about some of the junk food they can come up with?! But it's great that your dh wants to join you in your journey. It's been so much easier for me because my dh is doing this right along with me. He's so good about it that I don't begrudge him the occasional splurge when we go out to eat. (He loves fried shrimp and french fries!)

I glad you liked it. Seeing it listed like that is so much easier for me - especially when it's something you find in produce and have no info with it!

QueenMama you have been such an inspriation to me. I am proud of you for no giving up after struggling for so long. And congrats to you!!!

DH hated the OMM - until Monday - somehow they actually tasted good to him! This morning he forgot to take one to work with him and he was actually upset. I tried not to laugh out loud, but inside I was cracking up!

Thanks!

It is easier when you have someone to do this way of life with you. Now I can cook one meal instead of two for us. I make these pizza's with the low carb tortilla's, he never would try them before because "they didn't look good." Well last night I made on for my DS (5), DH tried and said "well that's really good!"
Men what ever would we do without them?!?!

I'm kinda of sliding my DH into diet mode...he just doesn't know it yet! LOL.
He eats what I eat as a general rule, except if I'm having cauli, I will prepare him a baked potato(microwave). I've been fixing his plate at the same time I do mine, at stove side, not putting the food on the table; that way portion control is easier. That's probably the one best habit that I carried over from my WW days; measuring my food and knowing what a *serving* looks like.
I also will do whole wheat pasta for him now instead of the dreaded processed to death, regular pasta; same with rice...brown and whole grain and wild if he wants pasta or rice.
But, yeah...my DH is asking more frequently now, "how many carbs does this have?" LOL! Hmmmm....I think he may be trainable after all! LOL!

I totally relate to this! If we're both eating the same way there is less desire to "cheat" on what the other one is eating and you're not. (In my case, it's always me on a diet cheating on what DH is eating. Sigh......) We did Atkins together (first time for both of us) in 2001 and we did great. He lost 45lbs in nothing flat (men!) and then I got pregnant with DS #1 and he's back-slid ever since. I wish he could just re-commit. lkvercher, If you ever get your DH to do that, let me know how you did it!

I just told my dh that I was doing low carb, he knew I was doing it for my health, he said he'd do it, too. Of course, he lost 40 lbs right off the bat. He could stand to lose a belly, but he works hard, seldom cheats, except when we eat out, which isn't often. And he NEVER, EVER brings anything not low carb into the house. Actually, he takes string cheese & Slim Jims to work for a snack every day. Never eats the sweets the other guys bring for break. Actually, I'm quite proud of him for sticking with it. It's been a big help to me.

That is so great, Nita!

Have you noticed that most men don't seem to have trouble with dieting once they decide that they're going to diet? It's like they can just switch their brains over and do it. No emotional link to food like many women have. No real cravings. Just "this is how I eat now" and that's it. (At least that's what I've observed).

Thank you all!

Well at the beginning of the post I told you all my dh was doing Atkins with me. Well it's just been about 2.5 weeks and this morning he told me he has lost a total of 18 lbs. I am so proud of him.

Mada I think you are right - it does seem like it was much easier for him. I just hope he sticks to it. He has lost a good bit of weight before, and the winds up gaining it back. I am certain this is a wol for me, so hopefully I can keep that from happening again!

QueenMama - it does make it sooo much easier. Of course now he thinks he knows it all and won't listen to me. He's one of these if 20 is what I am allowed if I only have 15 that will make it faster. Men - ugh!

oh I have taken up cake decorating - what kind of thing is that to start when you can't even eat sweets - I think I am just trying to torture myself - but it is sooo much fun!

LOL! Well, everyone's got to have a hobby......

I guess if you give them away when you're done, you'll be OK. Post some pictures of your artwork sometime - would love to see your handiwork.

So happy for your hubby! That's fantastic! And I suppose if you're the one doing the shopping and cooking, then he won't have a choice but to eat LC with you, huh.

Take care!

Well I have just started decorating, and I am teaching myself from a book. I don't really know how to post pic's - but I will certainly try.

You know I did try a bite of my cake, and the sugar gave me a headache - is that normal?

Yes, I do everything - typical huh? lol

I fix everything we eat, so it's nice in that respect we always have what I want to eat. yeah! I really don't mind though I love taking care of him. If it were up to him we'd eat bologna and cheese 24/7 - not kidding.

maybe!

When I first started dating him he actually ate Pamento cheese sandwiches every night for dinner. OMG how nasty is that? I honestly don't know how he even swallowed that sticky cheese on the dry ole bread. Hey at least cheese & bologna is moving up the food chain a bit!!
