| Friends gave me some venison breakfast sausage. I realize that the big link sausages contain carbs, and sugars, but I feel like I'm probably o.k. with this. Any thoughts. I just started on Jan 4th. |

| I assume that the sausage is homemade. If so, then the only way to be sure is to ask the people who gave it to you if they know what, besides venison was added to make the sausage. If it was just spices, no sugar or filler like bread crumbs or flour, then I would probably figure a couple of carbs per serving for the spices.

| Well, I found out that the only filler is some spices, but later I was told that I need to have 3 "fats" a day, (like from butter, cream, or mayo, so I spread some real mayo on my sausage patty later that day. When I looked at the specs on the mayo, it said that a tablespoon had 11 grams of fat, so I just put a little on my sausage. Does 3 "fats" a day mean 3 grams? |

| What plan are you following? It is doubtful that "3 fats" means 3 grams.

| I thought it was Atkins, but it may be some type of combo program. A friend lost over a hundred pounds several years ago, and now she just helps people. We went to school together, and I thought this was the induction stage of Atkins. I'll be talking to her tommorow, and I'll tell yall what I learn, as I have mucho questions. I lost 35 pounds 3 years ago, but a busted water pipe in my kitchen last year caused us to eat out for 4 months, and then 2 months ago I broke both bones in my lower left leg, and so now I weigh 215, instead of the 170 that I should. I'm an entertainer, (one man show)so I am really inspired to get back in form. Thanks in advance for your help. |

| hmmm...sounds like maybe you are doing The Zone? We do have a forum here for folks following the Zone WOE. Regardless, the best thing you can do, is get the book for your plan so you'll have a constant reference. If you are unable to get the book, then try to research your food plan online or at the library. Relying on second hand information can sometimes be a stumbling block, yanno? Good luck on your weight loss journey... and welcome to LCE!

| well, I think I'll do better by just having this friend who seems to really know what she's doing. Not to diminish what this type of forum does. I really appreciate the chance to ask you guys questions about everything. By the weigh, (get it), I tried to fix my bio, and put some fatboy pics on here so I'll have something for people to look at later and say, "wow! he did good!", but I guess I'm just not going about it right.I went to the bio page, but the stuff I wrote down didn't go in, and I couldn't find a way to post a picture. It's a hard life for a stupid man, (lol). Once again, thanks in advance for everyone's help with this. I'm ready to be slim and trim again. Now if we can just figure out how to grow hair on the head, and not on the back, we'll have it made...Thanks again |

if you opt to stick with low carb, i do hope you'll eventually decide on trying a plan to begin with, and, over time, tailoring that to your needs. i did low carb twice. first time, i relied on a friend's advice. i lasted two weeks and lost 12 pounds. not bad, but i got sick of eating bacon cheeseburgers and salad. ha! the second time, i did my homework, learned how the plan worked and got the book. i got a few cookbooks, too. and even for those areas that i "did my own thing," having a good understanding of how the whole low carb thing operates helped me make better, more informed decisions. that time? well, that was nov 2003. since then, i lost a hundred pounds and am still low carbing! good luck finding your own path. peace out. |
