Hi Kelly,
Personally, I would NOT use it during induction. Likewise, flaxSEED meal, as well. Atkins says no nuts or SEEDS during induction.
Some people have differing opinions as to the use of seeds and nuts during induction. Since the goal of induction is to get most of your carbs from veggies, and to also decrease cravings, keeping it simple is usually the best way to do it...the KISS method(Keep It Simple Sweetie)...just meats, veggies, limited cheese, cream.

hope this helps

Kelly, the Atkins WOE has evolved over the years with the strictest being the original Atkins version of 1972. I follow the version referred to in his DANDR version. Under DANDR, nuts are prohibited for the first 2 weeks. That would include almond meal. In the latest version on the Atkins website nuts and seeds are also prohibited for the first 2 weeks. However, there is a limited exception made for l/c breads with nuts or seeds if the total net carbs are 3 are less and you only have 1 serving.

I think I'd wait until after induction to add almond meal. After all, most of what we make with it is sweet, and early on in doing low carb it's easy to get derailed from eating even legal sweets.

I make a pound cake with almond meal, it is absolutely wonderful, and too easy to eat "just another piece". So I just don't make it except when I know I'm going to have all the kids & grandkids over to finish it off! They don't even realize it's low carb, either.

That's what I will do, wait. I want to do this right. Thanks Shelley, Henry & Nita.
