Kristeen,
Welcome to LCE!
As a general rule, folks feel kinda zapped of energy, much like feeling like a case of the *flu*, hence, *induction flu*, for sometimes up to 5 days or so.
Once all the sugar/glucogon is out of your system, and you switch over to fat burning mode, you'll regain your energy, and then some, as a lot of folks report.
Hang in there and during this adjustment period, be sure you are drinking lots of water to keep hydrated and help your kidneys do their job better.

Welcome Kristeen. What plan are you following? Good luck to you and your daughter on your weight loss journey. You will feel better soon and it is so worth it.

Welcome, Noobs! It's nice to see new faces in this little crowd of low carbers.

Wishing you both much success. (It's nice having a partner in this way of eating.)

Thank you so much for the welcomes. Such a nice place!! I think I am in my fourth day...still feel out of sorts. Having a hard time even thinking and I want to just lie down. My diet is not full fledge Atkins.... I incorporate veggies (the green kind) and salads. I would probably die if I were on Atkin's
induction! If I feel lethargic now....can you imagine?? And I am drinking water. My daughter feels the same...... hoping by tomorrow..... I want energy and to be able to function. Thank you again.

Full-fledged Atkins induction DOES allow green veggies and salad! So if that's what you're doing, you're doing full-fledged Atkins. You are allowed up to 3 cups of salad or 2 cups of salad and one of allowed veggies a day. (Broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, etc.)

If you're losing water weight fast, you might need to add a bit of sodium and/or potassium.

You really need to get the book and read it thoroughly. You need to understand exactly what you can eat, why you feel the way you do, and the science behind low carb. I recommend both Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR), and the Drs. Eades' Protein Power books. The latter have excellent explanations on the science of low carb.

You should be feeling better soon, BTW. Your body is adjusting to your new eating habits.

Hmmmmmmmm, I remember doing Akins without alot of veggies, but this time I am vegging it more than before. I am not weighing or going by any routine...... just trying to get over being a carb addict. Well, if I am doing Atkins...... it is more pleasant than before. Thanks for the tip! Better go back and review the book. It has been years.....

older versions of atkins (i.e. '72) were a lot more strict on the veggies and carb counts in induction and didn't allow for subtracting fiber from carbs as newer versions do...i'd really reccomend you grab a copy of a more current version of the book even if you don't end up adopting the plan wholesale, as it will help tremendously in knowing what to expect and understanding how the plan works.

i've seen a big difference in the levels of success from the people who get a book for a specific plan vs. the people that wing it. including myself! (for me: try 1, no book: 2 weeks, down 12 pounds. try 2, with book, from 11/03 current, down over 100 pounds.)

hang in there! you should be close to the other side of that sugar detox and that's when you'll start feeling great.

peace out.
