| have my energy back and I am not craving carbs as I did before, but my daughter is having the worse time. Still no energy and feel lethargic. Something is wrong. She is sticking to veggies and meats. Drinking water. She does though have fibromyalgia and takes meds. Will this cause her dilema???? I am considering taking her off the diet. Anyone out there know anything about this kind of trouble. I do appreciate any input. Noobus Last edited by zlettuce; 02-16-2008 at 09:09 AM. |

| please have your daughter consult with her physician. i gathered you've been doing atkins for about a week now-that's longer than i'd expect her to feel yucky from the normal induction stuff (usually 3-4 days), and particularly if she's under a doctor's care and taking meds, she needs a doctor's supervision when changing her eating habits. that can impact how her body handles the meds, and the doc may have different recommendations for her specifically either with eating or meds. if you think there's something wrong, listen to that now and worry about the weight later. let us know how it goes!

| Strange as it may be, but the noober is back to herself. I don't know what happened, but now she regained her energy. That was sort of scary for me because I didn't know why she was taking so long. We readjusted the meds. Thank you for the input. We are still low carbing it together. And I do show ketones! By the way, what updated book were you referring to? I do have the older version of Atkins. Noobus |

| oh, i'm so glad to hear your daughter is feeling better! i was concerned. please do continue to monitor how she's doing; i'm a big believer in listening to your body and what it's trying to tell you. and usually, once you've been lc'ing a few days, you feel great, so if somebody's not, it is definitely reason to investigate. on the book, i was referring to newer vs. older versions of the atkins book. the '72 version i know doesn't allow for as many carbs early on and doesn't subtract fiber to get "net carbs." in the newer versions, the main thing you have to watch out for is they don't have a problem with the LC specialty foods, but those can be tricky. some don't cause a lot of problems, but some do for many folks. and even the ones that don't can sometimes stimulate cravings for some folks. so i usually suggest people minimize those early on, and later, experiment slowly with them to see what works for them and what doesn't. in the long run, getting it to work for each of us takes some time and experimentation. but in general, using whole, real foods, eating lots of veggies, and drinking plenty of water seems to work well for most folks.
