Default back, gotta question and I missed you!

Hi all, been a while since I was here. We all got hit with the flu so the last month was pretty rotten - to put it politely!!! Needless to say, I was off then wagon (actually it was more like "wheel, what wheel, what's a wagon?? WHY IS THERE A HORSE IN THE LIVING ROOM???") But I'm back 100% finding new things to try and enjoy. Re-started last week Tuesday and on Saturday at my Weight Watcher meeting was down 5.5 pounds!!! Since I didn't attend the meeting the prior week, I was able to 'blame the flu' for the super lose. (but we know better!!).

Got a question - we went out with friends Saturday night and despite my best intentions, I did splurge on some carbs (hey, we're only human, right?) Anyhow, WOW am I bloated (carbs & salt, killer combination you know!) - oh yea, my question ...........how long will the bloat stay with me? I'm chugging water like crazy and watching my salt intake. Any other suggestions???

Thanks in advance,

Tara

I find that if I soak a lemon in some hot water for about 5 minutes (splenda if to sour to drink up) that it does the trick. The other night before bed I did it because my rings were tight and I couldn't believe how much I was in need of it. I felt fantastic the next morning and ended up having a huge weight loss.

P.S. Glad you are back too!! Sorry to hear that you are sick. That is what my family is trying to get over. Need to buy up some lemons to flush out the junk too. Congrats on 5.5 gone!

I'm not *sure* but I think she meant she SQUEEZED some lemon in water. Correct me if I'm wrong!
I have often heard that drinking fresh lemon juice in hot water first thing in the morning is not only a very beneficial daily cleanse for your liver and kidneys, but that it helps to shed excess water weight, so I *think* that's what she meant.

And, Tara, you are TOO FUNNY with the "horse in the living room" stuff...

I should have said that. I do cut the lemon in half. Then right before I finish the drink I get out those lemons and squeeze the rest of the juice out. I found this site Amazing Health Benefits of Drinking Lemon Water that gives benefits of drinking lemon water and on the bottom of the page gives how much lemon you need. I wish they could develop a bottle of lemon juice that has the same benefits as real lemons. It's the rinds and the oil in them that give the most benefits I've read.

Thanks Lawbooks!! I wish I knew the link I had originally read that said the benefits come from the rind. Even in site it suggests squeezing the lemon into water. Well, soaking or not in the water you'll still get lemonade I promise. In fact, squeeze the lemon in and then soak the rind.

Ah, super idea! Will get some REAL lemons on the way home tonight. This all does explaing why my super easy to use (yea, I know it's cheating) pre-squeezed lemon juice in the fake plastic lemon container didn't help. Super link Baby Blue, thanks!!!

Ah, thanks Law, darn good to be back!

LOL Hesperis!

glad to see you back, tara! been wondering about you.

sorry about the flu. eyew! so many people have been sick this year, it's been something else...

your bloat won't stay too long, most likely. give it a few days and try the lemon cure if you like, of course, along with the extra water intake. for me, it's usually just a couple three days at most, depending on how much carbing i did. but definitely temporary.
and take care of yourself!

Everyone is different. I can hold onto water for days & days, have always been like that, so I'm extremely careful about salty foods.

Now, this is the first I've heard of the lemon "cure", but I'm willing to try anything. Besides, it's gotta taste great!

By the way, just a reminder to wash the exterior of the lemon rind really well before you put it into the hot water (unless you buy organic).
