Default Sugar free Jello and flavored water?

Hi,
My 2nd time doing Atkins, started off weighing 205 - would like to lose 25 lbs. I am one week in and have lost about 7 lbs.

I started eating the sugar-free jello at the end of the week. Any reason not to? The box says it has 40 calories for the whole box, with no carbs or sugars.

Sam's choice has some naturally flavored water that lists all zeros with the sugar and carbs. Any recommendations not to?

When I work, I have been drinking at least a gallon of water a day, though most of it is in the morning. Any reason it can't all be early in the day?

Thanks

Hi jl,
Welcome to LCE

Congrats on such a great start!!! 7 pounds down is fantastic!!!

Yes, SF jello is OK.
On the water...Dr Atkins recommends *plain* in the amounts of at least eight 8oz glasses per day. After you get your *plain 8* in, then flavored water would be OK, as long as it's carb free/sugar free.

On drinking large amounts of water...it is better to space your intake over the period of the day. Ingesting to much water in a short time span can *wash* electrolytes(mainly sodium) out of the body. NOT good!
Feel free to browse all the forums...lots of good info and lots of great folks here for support.

hth
best wishes,

Welcome, jl! You've made a good start. If your goal is 25 lbs, you've exceeded 1/4 of your goal! How cool is that!

I agree with Shelley on spacing out your water. Besides washing out electrolytes, you can get mighty uncomfortable drinking that much in such a short period of time. Better to ration it out throughout your day. And I like a flavored water from time to time. But for me, usually it's just plain old tap water. It's convenient, and easier on the pocketbook!

I wish you much success on your low carb journey.

I love sf jello. It's such a nice treat.

I tend to have better weight loss results if I spread out my water instead of just drinking it most in one shot. I'm not sure why but it's good to know that it can wash out my electrolytes doing it in one sitting. It'll be a good reminder to keep my water bottle with me at all times. I've tried to get my water in before bed but then I end up in the potty most of the night.
