| What's good to get? I was getting an array of things from Unikey - they are part of the Fat Flush plan (the book made no sense to me, read like stereo instructions) They've got good stuff, but they are pricey - and I don't need to go farther with THAT thought do I??? Anyhow, I've got Whole Foods, Trader Joes, oddles of health food stores and regular markets. Anything not the price of a tank of gas you'd recommend?? TIA!

| Tara, A good multi-vitamin is a must -- I would discuss it with a vitamin person at Whole Foods, but DO NOT tell them you are following a LC WOE (unless you WANT rolled eyes and sighs of exasperation and an unrequested lecture on how eating this way is bad). In addition to a multi-vitamin, this is what I take: Barlean's Essential Woman (EFA's, rose hip oil, etc.) -- great for balancing female hormones and improving the appearance of skin, hair, and nails. A good calcium & magnesium supplement. And I like to keep a bottle of "Green Superfood" supplements around for the days when I fail to get all my veggies in (not often, but hey, I'm human). I also take Chromium Picolinate GTF to help stabilize my blood sugar. HTH,

| Terra- People can take those kind of supplements, yes, but I wouldn't recommend starting out with them. Many of them are herbal products pumped with various amounts of caffiene and aspirin-type supplements intended to increase your metabolism. If you take too much, you may find you get a racing heart and dizziness, etc. If you have other health concerns as well, I'd be very careful about adding those at any time. Since you just started LCing, I wouldn't even begin to consider fatburners. At the start weight you listed, straight low-carbing will normally begin to do it's work and you should expect to enjoy healthy losses in a few days, including a greatly reduced appetite and energy bursts without the side effects of all the caffiene. Normally, those of us with 100 pounds or more to lose get to enjoy the benefits of quicker losses right out of the gate. I would encourage you instead to give your body some time to adjust to low carb. the first few days of a program are already challenging as your body makes the switch to burning fat and many people feel crummy during that sugar detox period intially. Also, it's imperative for your long-term success that you let go of the "need for speed" a little and instead, focus on changing your eating habits from a diet into a lifestyle that you can live with forever. It's a mental switch, y'kno? I totally understand the drive, but it doesn't serve you well in the end. I would strongly suggest you give your eating plan a full two weeks, limit your intial supplements to multivitamins and herbal stuff you're already taking without the fatburners, carb blockers or other diet-type stuff, and reassess down the road if you so choose. If you find yourself craving sugar, you can add L-glutamine to your supp list. But other than that, I'd steer clear, at the very least for now. |

| Hi gals, I am not really into all of the suppliments- beside a multivitamin do you really need to take anything else? I have heard many things about chrom picol. but have never taken it in the past.. I would really like to just do it with food and not all the added stuff.. is that ok? |

| Ginger-A good multivitamin with minerals is really all most people need, especially if they're young. Our soil is depleted of many nutrients and so we often need to add vitamins/minerals that have been leached out of the ground and don't make it into our food. Different supplements can help people who have problems or who are aging. I know that I wouldn't go without my CoQ10 as people my age (55) don't make near enough. The other supplement-like Glucosamine are targeted for aging joints and I think they help and won't hurt. To each his own. |
