Today, we had lunch at Chili's, and I ordered the shrimp ceasar salad thinking it would be great. I came home and checked their website, and it said the salad had 39 carbs. Way more than I expected, but I am assuming that most of that is from the croutons. Does that sound about right to everyone?

I would bet you are right. I looked it up on chili's website and 39 carbs is what they had but nothing on croutons. That just must be figured in to the count. I also looked up a cup of croutons and it said 25 carbs, 2 fiber. Hope this helps!

| i looked on their nutritionals....you're looking at 33 net carbs (carbs - fiber). the dressing is 3 carbs per 2 oz. it looks like. maybe another 8-10 net carbs for the croutons based on heather's info, figuring maybe 1/3 -1/2 cup croutons? and i found this - Chili's Grill & Bar Add On - Garlic and Lime Grilled Shrimp nutrition information - Food Labels - DietFacts.com, which says 3 carbs per 4 pieces of chili's lime and garlic shrimp...comparing the regular c. salad with the shrimp one, there is a difference of 11 carbs net, so it looks like the shrimp probably added about 10, i assume with whatever they cook it in. i'm very surprised it comes out as high as that, as i would have considered it a pretty safe choice myself. always better to know, though...

Well, I didn't even eat one crouton. Dh was laughing at me because I was lining them up all around the edge of my plate. He told me to stop because it looked like I had some sort of disorder! LOL There were a TON on there! I will just have to be extra careful tonight for dinner and have very few carbs!

I will have to remember that next time! Honestly, I was probably doing it just to see how long it would take for him TO make a comment about it! I can still have a "little kid" mentality from time to time.

cjhinch - you must be a blast to hang out with. Always keeping that DH wondering what you'll do next. I bet he never says he is bored around you. ![]()

I would have done the same thing with the croutons. DH usually eats whatever I don't but he hates croutons so they would have been decorating the edge of the plate.

I do the same thing with my croutons.........I don't think it's a problem at all! And I don't care who it bothers! We frequent a restaurant that always brings little packages of crackers with the salad - really convenient to just leave those on the plate. Croutons are sometimes a bit harder to dig out of a salad, especially when it seems as though they've put an entire loaf of bread on it.

I have to say the salad was awesome....even without the loaf of bread they added on top!

I always remove croûtons from my salads, if there is a bread plate I put them on that, sometimes it is just on a napkin.

| i like heather's flicking them at the DH idea, myself....perfect for when he suggests you have a disorder.... ![]()
