Default Dreams while LCarbing

Anyone have weird dreams while Low carbing? last night I had a dream within a dream.....OMG was the freakiest thing ever!!! And it wasn't a good dream either, it was scary and I was screaming in the dream for my hubby to help me and when I finally woke up he said I didn't scream but I had started making some moaning noises and he was about to wake me up to see if I was okay.

I'm not sure that it's LC per se that's causing weird dreams, Melissa. Generally, it seems that most of us have weird dreams but we don't usually remember them. One has to awaken (or rise to a higher level of consciousness) within a certain time relative to the REM (Rapid Eye Movement stage) - regardless of the degree of weirdness of the dreams which occur during this stage - in order to have a conscious memory of the dreams which may have occurred.

A low carb nutritional approach DOES seem to have some effect on sleep cycles, although the matter has not been well studied. So it is likely that you are more prone to remembering any type of dream - weird or not.

I sometimes dream that I'm eating cake or some other high carb food, and then, in my dream, I remember that I am in a challenge here, which would throw it completely out the window, or that I would be a terrible role model (of course, that wouldn't happen, people here don't judge us for eating off plan from time to time, it was just the dream talking!), and, in my dream, I spit it out! When I wake up, I feel so good, knowing that it was only a dream, that I didn't set myself back a week, or disappoint anyone, or ruin a challenge.

BTW, it's always chocolate cake!

I had fierce dreams during peri-menopause, but they settled down after I got through the process. Now I seldom remember dreams. Sleep better, too.

Thanks for the info....I think alot of it had to do with something that happened that day, although the dream wasn't about the event it was scary but had nothing to do with the incident.....
Here is what happened...sorry it is long but exactly what had happened.
I meant to post this yesterday but I was so trying to process it that I just was in shock I guess....
Tuesday evening (my night off) I was sitting in the recliner in the living room and of course dozing off, kids were in bed asleep, DH was in the other room on the computer, when at just around 11pm I hear someone banging on my front door. Freaked out I bolt out of the chair and open the door, to find a young man (probably about 18-19 yrs old) standing in my doorway, with blood all over his face, and down the front of his shirt. He had the most terrifying look on his face...his face was pale white under all the blood. *something like you see only in the horror movies* I scream and slam the door in his face....(a gut reaction). Scott (dh) comes running in the living room and I am freaking out telling him there is a man outside covered in blood. He instructs me to go lock the back door and call the cops. He proceeds to just yell through the door to this kid trying to ascertain what he wants. I call 911 and tell them of the situation and they tell me they are sending someone right away. Scott turns on the porch light and tells the guy that we have called the police and they are on their way. about a minute or so later he walks off our porch and sits on the curb in front of our house to wait for the police. The police show up....3 cop cars, 1 sherrif car, the k-9 unit, and an undercover car. We live in a small town so we know alot of the people here now and we knew the cop who came on the scene first (he goes to our church). So he questions the kid...(he knows him)...and from what I could hear standing on the porch...this kid was asked by some girl to come over, and when he got there one guy started punching him in the head, then I am not sure if he was grabbed by two other big guys and tossed into a car where his shoes and coat were stolen and then they started just pounding on his face, then they dumped him off just up the road from our house. We live on a street near the train tracks and there are only 4 houses on this side of the tracks and none on the other side till you reach a cross street. Well...I guess our house was the first house with the lights on, hence he stopped here. The ambulance showed up and they took photos of his poor face and stuff....and then his mom showed up. I spoke to her and apologized for not helping him more, but that he had scared the crap out of me . She Thanked me for calling the police, I asked if he was going to be alright and she said she was taking him to the ER and that his nose was probably pretty smashed.
So after all this happened...it took me quite awhile to calm down....His face will forever be etched in my mind and how scary it looked. I had nightmares that night and still today woke up a couple of times just shaking from it. So that was my crazy experience...just thought I would share.

Oh, Melissa! That's one scary adventure! It will take some time to get over that one. I'm glad you shared, though. It will help you cope with the memories.

That I awful! I couldn't imagine opening the door to seeing someone hurt so badly. It had to be the furthest thing from your thoughts so I can see why it scared you so bad. Glad that your DH was there.

Yes I sure think it will take time...We live in a small town so I am hoping that I will hear something about how he is doing.....I am just glad that the police got there as quick as they did....It puts things into perspective for sure, being a CNA I feel guilt for not helping him, but the not knowing what was going on and just wanting to protect myself and my family from harm was what took over.

It sure was the furthest thing.....I couldn't imagine who would be knocking at our door that late at night, but thought it could possibly be an emergency from one of our neighbors or something like that.....Like I said we live in a small town and we live on a quiet street where not much happens and I guess it just goes to show you just never know. I am so glad my DH was here too....he is a big guy 6'8" / over 350 lbs but....I could tell he was pretty freaked out too.
