Leslie this is a great site for support. Have you considered starting a journal? Lots of members stop by and support each other. Good luck.

Great Idea Leslie, I started two weeks ago and still find that I need lots of ideas, and thoughts on the eating plan. I am always looking for new way to make the same old food taste different and better.. We are grilling a lot, which is always good but getting kinda sick of all the meat...lol.. get over it right..lol.. Hope that you are finding the start a easy way to go.... Ginger

Ha! Sick of meat!? I love meat!!! I use a lot of butter, since it is absolutely awesome and never gets old. Also, I marinated steaks with Sugar Free/Carb Free Balsamic Vinaigrette by Walden Farms. It is absolutely awesome and I guarantee the only Sugar Free Balsamic out there! Marinate it for 24 hours and it also helps with the always typical "grilled out" taste, even when you reheat it! I am also a huge mushroom fan and you can always stuff mushrooms with crab meat cheese and advocado! Hmmm...good! Low carb and different!
Blessings!

I like sauteeing mushrooms in butter and sherry and then cooking the mushrooms until all the liquid, except the butter that was not absorbed in the mushrooms has evaporated. I then use that butter as a dipping sauce for steak or veggies.

I am really unhappy today, guys. I just did my measurments and I lost 1" in bust, lost 1 1/4" in waist, nothing in hips, gained 1/2" in upper arms. gained 1/2 " thighs and lost 1/2 " in calves. The exercising perhaps made me gain, so I will lose again, but I am working so hard and feel so bummed that it was not more. I deleted all pics of me on the digital when I realized how yuck I look. Just bumming, could use positive reinforcement, encouragement. I did drink a couple of beers, (friends bring it in and just do not get why I cant have one), that was my screw up, but I didnt think it would affect the loss...or didnt it? Going hiking tomorrow. Blah! Hope everyone had a great weekend!!!

leslie- if you drank a couple of beers or eat offplan, it's not unusal to retain water for a few days thereafter. i have no idea how this impacts measurements, but it does tend to make the scale go up. the day after you've done some offplan eating is NOT the time to take a baseline.

alcohol will also be burned off before any additional losses can happen, so if you choose to drink, do this with the understanding that it WILL slow weightloss.

i also don't think that a half inch "gain" in a couple of your measurments (which could be impacted by what part of your arm or leg you measure, for that matter) really impacts how others see you. hearing about you deleting your pictures left me feeling sad for you. i don't believe other people see your appearance anywhere remotely as harshly as you seem to.

i am getting the sense that you tend to focus only on the areas you're not pleased with and do not focus on the areas you are. i would encourage you to continue to try to focus on the progress you're making, and seek out additional support on the body image issues if you aren't getting it currently and feel like it could help. because i'm suspecting most of this is internal for you. if you see "fat" internally when you look at yourself, no amount of weightloss can correct that.

peace out.

Don't forget, Alice, that muscle weighs more than fat and if you're exercising your muscles are going to get bigger which can't help but result in bigger measurements. Go easy on yourself!

Ahhh, I have been feeling tired...I decided to be strict with the induction and maybe take a break with the copius amounts of exercise for a week or so to rest up...I still will hike, but days that I am not, I am resting. Typically is that all right, or should I continue exercising? I have a terrible case of insomnia (always have) and do not want to be put on meds for it...Valerian is not working at all, either. Think me just chilling out a bit would be fine? Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I do appreciate it...my issues stem from my mom when I was younger and I know whats up and need to collect myself. Forcing myself to use some rationale! I know better, trust me, it is just that I need to keep telling myself whats up!

Sorry to hear you so down on yourself Alice. Hang in there and yes, go easy on yourself for a while. Remember you are doing this not only to loose weight but also for your health! We are all rooting for you!

with induction level carbs, lighter levels of exercise are fine. heavy exercise, you'd probably feel better and function better at a higher carb level. so try to match the pace of one with the other.

I was wondering how many people use Walden Farm products? I do not understand how all this stuff can be completely carb free. How can you have Fruit flavor jelly with no carbs? I have used some of the salad dressings but I am scared to try some of the other things.
