Default Splenda Question

Okay, on another forum it was implied that Splenda in packets is different than Splenda in the big bag. I am still confused. Can anyone answer this question for me?

Connie, the Splenda in packets seems to be sweeter than the bulk Splenda because it is not "fluffed up" as much so there is not as much filler. It is the filler that gives Splenda its carbs. 1 cup of the bulk Splenda has 24 grams of carbs from the maltodextrin bulking agent. I believe that it takes about 16 packets of Splenda to equal 1 cup of sugar sweetening power. However, as I use liquid sucrolose which has no filler and 0 carbs, I don't worry about the difference between forms of granular Splenda.

Thank you, Henry! Guess I'll see if I can find the liquid sucralose.

connie- sweetzfree is the liquid splenda that most of us use here. it IS pricey, but highly concentrated, so it lasts for quite a while. (i.e. 25 drops equal 1 cup of sugar sweetness). Sweetzfree , No Calories, No Carbs, No Fillers!

Some of us also use FiberFit, from Netrition. It's less concentrated liquid Splenda with fiber added. 1 tsp equals 8 tsps sugar. It doesn't take much to sweeten a cup of tea or coffee. It's my primary sweetener. I quit using bulk Splenda a couple of years ago, just to keep the carb count down.

Connie, here is a link to an earlier thread concerning liquid splenda. It contains some links to sources for liquid splenda.

Splenda has come out with a new product. It is sold in packet form but it has 1 gram soluble fiber and 1 gram Dietary fiber. 2 carbs but both are fiber. Each packet sweetens like 2 tsp sugar.
