Thumbs up Observations after doing Atkins for 1 month

I started Adkins induction on Feb 1, 2009 and have decided to evaluate my process.

Pros:
  1. I've lost 13.4 pounds and it was relatively 'painless'
  2. I was able to decrease one of my RA medicines by 1/3
  3. I'm exercising again - I logged 188 minutes of exercise this month (after not being able to exercise at all in the 3-months prior)
  4. I've noticed that I no longer have heartburn after eating
  5. I haven't had a single hypoglycemic episode (when I used to have them frequently)
  6. I'm waaay less hungry

Cons:
I
  1. t takes me more time to prep my breakfasts and lunches
  2. I'm making different foods for my DH and daughters (although I am transitioning them to LCE)
  3. Movies are snack free unless I bring my own

From my vantage point the pros outweigh the cons so it's easy to commit to continuing.

Tracy

Hiya Scoot! Congrats on your loss. I find that I can accomodate my lce with my families way of eating without having to cook two different meals. Initially pasta was impossible. But now I use Dreamfields and no one complains. I usually make two veggies. One low carb, one not so low. Just the fact that you can use butter and parmesan cheese makes brocolli way more appealing to everyone!

That's wonderful, Tracy! It sounds like you're doing well, feeling well, and on the way to helping your family do the same. As a plus: the better you do, the more interested the family seems to become, in my experience.

Keep up the great work!
