Default Not losing yet...

Hi everyone,

I'm on day 5 of induction in to lce, and I haven't lost any weight or inches yet. I have been following strictly and entering everything in to fit day. I have been drinking lots of water but including one/two cups black coffee per day in the morning. I'm kind of feeling discourages.

I weigh 144 lbs I want to be 120.

Any suggestions?

Charlotte

Hi Charlotte,
to LCE!!

First of all, I would say DON'T GIVE UP!! Every one is different, and since you don't have a huge amount of weight to lose(I'm talking over 50 lbs), you may lose at a slower rate. My first go-round at LC, I only lost 4 lbs, and that didn't happened until I was well into the 2nd week. I know...total buzzkill! LOL!
I know it's hard not to get discouraged, but hang in there, OK?

Secondly, if you would list a day or 2 of your typical food intake, we might see something that is holding you back. For some folks, myself included, calories do matter, straight out of the gate; for others not so much.
Good job on drinking your water. And, have you added in any exercise yet? Sometimes, that's the missing piece of the puzzle, so to speak.

Best wishes on your journey to healthy eating and weight loss!
YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Welcome, Charlotte.

Which low carb program are you following?

Hi Shelley,

Thanks for taking the time to reply to me! I've been using fitday religiously so I can easily tell you what I'm eating in a day, here goes...

3 good quality sausages
one grilled tomato
black coffee

couple of sticks of cucumber
teaspoon of cream cheese

cup of salad
can of tuna
mayo (regular)
stalk of celery
1 oz grated cheese

Half roasted chicken
1/2 cup red pepper
1/2 cup spinach
1/2 cup peas in the pod
squeeze of lemon juice

Sugar free jello
Whipped cream

I do try and eat the full 15 of veggies and I do not cut my portions of meat and fish, I just have as much of that as I like. I do drink a large black coffee in the morning because it's either that or I have to take caffeine tablets as I have a medical condition that requires this. This may be slowing me down but I would rather lose weight slower than go against medical advice on that one.

Could it be possible that I was not really hypoglycemic in the first place? I did eat what I considered a healthy diet and had not really put on any weight recently, I have been 140 pounds since I was about 17/18, and I'm 23 now. Could this just be the weight I am meant to stay at? I'm thinking my body isn't getting the kick start because my diet wasn't that bad in the first place!

I am planning on sticking with the plan as I really do think it is healthier than eating refined carbs but I would like to see the benefits of a smaller waist too!!

Thanks

Hi Charlotte,
Sorry it took me a few days to get back to this thread...my bad!

Absolutely, do NOT go against your Dr's medical advice at any time.

Your intake looks pretty good. If anything, I'd say you may not be getting enough carbs and fat.
Low Carb doesn't mean NO carb, yanno? Not eating enough food to fuel your body can slow your metabolism down to a crawl, and instead of losing, your body will hold onto the fat stores because it fears *starvation* is near, hence the term starvation mode.
The very least you should be taking in is 20g net carb per day if you are doing Atkins induction, and that is only recommended for 2 weeks, then you will start adding 5g carb each week, until you reach your CCLL(critical carb level for losing).ie: 25g/day X 1 wk, then 30g/day X1 week, 35g/day X 1 week and so on.
If you are trying to *wing* it and you are not on a specific plan, you should perhaps consider going to an established LC plan such as Atkins, Protein Power, SouthBeach, or the Zone.
Knowledge of how your plan works and how to work your plan will give you a lifetime of health benefits, with weight loss being the biggest payoff.
