Default Is there a LC system that doesn't rely on cheese?

Hi,
I'm a new member, so this is a very basic question!

The system I've seen most info about is the Atkin's one, but my problem is I don't like cheese! (It's not an allergy, I just dislike the taste). Most of the recipe's I've seen have it as an ingredient though :( They also make heavy use of branded products that I can't get easily in the UK.

Do I just have to plough through websites of recipes, crossing out the cheesy ones, or does one of the other LC systems I've seen mentioned, rely less on it? Is there a list of d-i-y equivalents of the specialized ingredients anywhere?

Thanks for any advice,

Val

Val. Do you have the book Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution? Atkins does not rely on cheese. While there are a lot of recipes that use cheese, most do not. If you go to the Atkins.com website and look at the recipes, you will see that most do not use cheese. As for other branded products appearing in recipes that may not be readily available in the UK, unless the product is a speciality product like ThicknThin, it should not be too difficult to work around the recipe as you become more adept at low carb cooking. I have found that low carb cooking sometimes requires slightly different cooking techniques but nothing that is not manageable. If you would like suggestions for a "work around", just ask.

I'm new too. No need to use cheese or any diary.

There are a lot of low carb recipe books that have recipes without cheese. You can always make a recipe you like and leave the cheese out!

I have the book, so I went back and counted a few of the recipes in it. The first three were cheese-free, then the next three weren't, so I think when I read through it I must have just noticed the ones that sounded nice but turned out to have cheese, or the ones with it in their names. So it's not as bad as I thought.

I've always been a rebel with a low carb cause, well not always, but rules are meant to be broken as long as it will do you good!

This is one big rule that will help make things more "doable" and as long as things work for you, the more likely you will be successful!

BTW, My name is Valerie.
