Oh poor Jeff and poor you! Mike and I got our flu shots already so I hope we stay healthy. He has an appt. tomorrow for a tooth extraction. He is doing Atkins with me so I don't know what he'll be able to eat. I may ask for suggestions on the main thread.

I'm a bad girl. I'm having a drink! I know you can't on induction but my 2 weeks are up and he brought me home a bottle of something really good and I couldn't resist. All I have is flavored powder drink mixes so I am having it with flavored water rather than my usual cranberry juice. not too good but zero carbs. I know that when you consume alchohal your body will burn that before calories so I won't be losing anything tonight but hopefully since it's zero carbs I won't do damage. I used to think that alcohal changed into sugar in your body therefore you can't drink while doing low carb but after researching I found the truth. Yee Haw! I can't help it...I am and always will be a party girl! no worries though, just this one tonight and not again till we hit San Diego Thursday. I wouldn't have at all but the hubs must want me to drink and have fun on vacation (lots more sex) so he brought home a bottle I can't resist! My Bad!

Congrats on your 3 -1/2 pound loss Cinderella! I think I'm going back on Induction for a bit and leave the sale alone for a while.

Just Do it! or "You can do it", as Rob Schneider says in every one of Adam Sandler's movies!
I will be 'fudging' a bit from Thursday - Monday but then back on track heavy duty. I'm even thinking of strict Stillmans for a week just to shock myself into something. what, I don't know! I mean even Induction...20 carbs is a lot. we don't even have that much per day ever! It can be boring but what's a couple of weeks? Find eggs on sale and they can be your savior!
I have never journaled here but maybe I should, or maybe we could post our menus and recipes etc.
Thanks for the congrats but truly, it sucks! I've heard stories of 10 - 20 pounds and I worked so hard for squat! It's just harder when you are old like me, so take advantage of your young metabolism and go for it while you can. Geez I wish I had done something about my weight when I was younger. I honestly just figured I wouldn't still be alive by now so who cares!? Like they say "had I known I would have lived this long, I would have taken better care of myself!" - and what the heck does that mean?

Hey Cinderella,
How are you. I post what I eat daily in my journal on this site. I don't add the counts that I get from fitday.com but I post the foods here and usually add the ingredients I used. Check it out when you get bored and are looking for something to read. :-)

sorry to be so dense but can you tell me, what are "strict Stillmans"?

I will copy and paste it. It is really strict, but when on a plateau it could be a good tool. Basically it's just total protein, no fat. I've done it and one week is good, two may be better but probably no longer. I think it could be alternated with Atkins every now and then to blast the fat. I can't do it now, got to go on vacation but in a week maybe so if anyone is desperate enough to join me maybe we can do it.

STILLMAN'S QUICK WEIGHT LOSS DIET:

NOTHING ELSE IS PERMITTED ON THIS DIET--NOTHING! IF IT'S NOT
MENTIONED IN THE FOLLOWING LIST, DON'T EAT OR DRINK IT.

Eat all you wish of the following foods to satisfy hunger.
If you eat until you've satisfied your hunger but haven't stuffed
yourself, and then feel hungry before the next meal, you can eat
again, but only from the foods listed here. In fact, you're better
off eating smaller meals 6 times a day than 3 bigger meals as is
the general custom. But you limit yourself to this extensive list
of high protein foods.

1. LEAN MEATS, with all possible fat trimmed off. Includes beef,
lamb, veal. Eat it broiled, boiled, OR baked. No butter,
margarine, oil or other fats are to be used either in
the cooking or the eating.

2. CHICKEN AND TURKEY with all skin removed. Broiled, boiled
or roasted, with no butter, margarine, oil or other fats.

3. ALL LEAN FISH & SEAFOOD No butter, margarine, oil or other fats permitted in
preparation or serving. You may have cocktail sauce, horseradish,
ketchup-in moderation.

4. EGGS. Hard boiled preferably. Also soft or medium boiled eggs,
poached, or any type of fried eggs made in non-fat, non-stick pans
without butter, margarine, oil or other fats.

5. COTTAGE CHEESE, FARMER CHEESE, POT CHEESE made
with skim milk and no whole milk.

6. AT LEAST 8 GLASSES OF WATER PER DAY, absolutely essential
(10 ounce glasses). As much as you want of coffee and tea without
cream, milk or sugar. You may sweeten with non-caloric sweeteners
to taste. Enjoy all the club soda, vichy and non-caloric carbonated
beverages you wish, as often as desired.
You may use common seasonings such as salt, pepper, spices,
other herbs, cocktail sauce, horseradish, ketchup. Don't use any creamy or oily sauces
or dressings. No mayonnaise, no salad dressings, no oils, no fats.

NOTHING ELSE IS PERMITTED-IF IT’S NOT LISTED HERE, DON’T EAT IT OR DRINK IT!

The eight <10 ounce> glasses of water daily are in addition to
whatever coffee, tea and non-caloric carbonated beverages you
drink. This is an integral part of the specific internal process put
into motion by the Quick Weight Loss Diet. Much more of your
body fat is burned up than with most other diets. This leaves in
it’s wake the waste products or ashes of burnt fat. [ketone bodies]
They must all be washed out of your system by water which also
serves to relieve any unpleasant dryness and taste in the mouth.

Note: ketone bodies are not ashes, they are the by-product
of incomplete burning of fats.Ketones are to fat as charcoal is to
wood. Ketones can be burned for fuel by your body. Most people
have feedback loops to protect against ketosis-acidosis.

It is desirable to take vitamins daily with the diet, such as a
once-daily vitamin and mineral tablet.

I think a kid as well as a man can lose weight by just eliminating sweets and white bread and things like white rice, potatoes, etc. They have a higher metabolism and even if they have carbs around 50 I bet they still can lose. it would be so hard with a child, so much temptation at school and even in the social circles. burgers and fries? How can he say no, lots of peer pressure. so whatever you have been doing sounds like it's working.
Any leftover meat, chicken, etc. from the previous dinner would be good.
Hard boiled eggs
tuna or chicken salad
cheese sticks
pepperoni
deviled eggs
pork rinds

I pack my husbands lunch and that's what he takes. today he took scrambled eggs with cheese. he has a microwave but eats it cold and likes it. Also packed sf jello with whipped cream and it stayed just fine in his lunch box with blue ice. normally I pack hard boiled eggs, leftover meat, I'll make a big roast or a london broil, slice it thin and use for leftovers and for his lunch and he loves it. I do the deli meat and cheese roll ups too, with a thin slice of pickle in the middle and I fill a small baggie with pork rinds. We've made shrimp, chicken wings with "Franks Red Hot" sauce and butter and they are great and good cold in lunches too.
Good luck!

Hey yall, can you pack my lunch????

My kid is a skinny little stick, but he is eating high protien because it helps keep him going longer. He does get bread though if he wants it, and fruit. His biggest problem is that he only has 20 minutes to eat. He eats slowly and talks fast so on the one hand we say " chew your food well, Have a conversation, make meals a good time" and on the other we say "Sit down, shut up, stuff your face and Line up." It makes me so mAAAAAAD! and I work at the same school. Oh well. I love all the above ideas . We like cream cheese on fiber rye crackers- cant remember the brand, they are big and rectangular and look like cardboard. Cherry tomatoes,
pickles, slices of red bell pepper or green if red is too expensive, pineapple chunks (too much sugar for me but he loves it.) applesauce in a little tub. frozen grapes, Homemade pimento cheese spread (blend pimento or roasted red pepper bits with cheddar and a little mayo or heavy cream) on celery, My son is always attracted to the "lunchables" packages in the store, and they are highly processed, crappy and full of sugar and way to expensive. I found a little divided plastic box and we make our own" cheese cubes (cheddar, pepper jack, colby, mozzarella or a mix, ) chunks of precut summersausage or hard salami or even cooked breakfast sausage or coctail sausage , a fancy toothpic to eat with, lol, and some fruit, melon cubes, etc.He likes it. Like a toddler, he will eat it if its already cut up. I am always burned at the cafeteria because they will serve whole fruit, and 99 % of it gets thrown away because the littler kids cant or wont eat it. Yet if i come collect it (with the cafeteria manager cursing at me in a loud voice), wash it and cut it up in chunks or quarters, they gobble it down for a snack. My son's lunchables have crackers, but you could replace those with fiber crckers or veggies. We also like to take cut up raw veggies and a tiny tupperware full of ranch dip, "chile con queso (cheese with chiles, i have to add a bit more cream to keep it "dippable" without nuking it).
Good luck.

great, great ideas Suzy! You are rockin' it! Love the idea of homemade pimento cheese spread.

well we are off for a mini vaca tomorrow so I won't be on till Monday or Tuesday. We've already planned to have fun and enjoy our few days rather than stress about dieting so be prepared. I may return a total biotch because I ate too much, but bear with me, i will be better and hopefully not drag you guys down with me.
Had quick fried thin pork chops and deviled eggs for dinner. I am so full now, ugh.
Colored my hair yesterday, got it cut today, just have to pack the two of us and we are out of here by around 2pm tomorrow. San Diego Zoo, lots of seafood, some beach walking, some drinking, more seafood, then after 2 days up the coast to Newport Beach and go with the flow. Too much food, too much booze, too much sex maybe too. What can I say? (my bad)

I missed something...who is "she'? ex wife, mother in law,? whatever I am so sorry it is stressing you out.
happy to be leaving tomorrow but everything seems to happen at once. Hubby had to get a tooth extracted yesterday, today our airconditioner is going out and I had an appt., this morning but cancelled it because I thought it sounded better, now it's straining and moaning again. My MIL has a heart surgery this week and 2 days later is her 80th birthday.
I feel fat and ful and tired. time to chill!

Everything is fine, hubby is fine, no pain, MIL we won't know until the 22nd and she lives in Ohio. Air is messed up so we need to make it through the night and I can sweat tomorrow and then we are off. will need the repairman on Tues. got a new compresser 2 yrs. ago so I don't know what the problem is. everytime we call them it's another $1000 down the drain it seems. Sad that it's almost October yet it's still over 100 degrees! it really gets old.
I am going to really try not to cheat while gone. yes I will drink, that's what we do when on 'holiday' but I will not eat bread, potatoes, tortillas or anything like that. if there is no other way to get seafood somewhere than fried I will go for it, and if veggies come on the side or a salad is offered I may eat it. a few carbs there yes, but not bad ones so hopefully everything will work out.
