I have a wheat allergy, and the only pitfall is with low carb products like bread or bake mixes.

For me, it's easy to stay away from those products, so my wheat allergy isn't at issue.

I would say that if you have a milk allergy, you just stay away from those products containing them (I know that some with milk allergies can eat cheesee - a "your mileage may vary" thing for sure).

For me, the main components of my daily food intake are meats and veggies, with some dairy and occasionally fruits. It's VERY easy to keep away from my allergens!

Em answered very well.

Basically, wheat is easy to avoid. There are a few LC recipes that you'll have to avoid because they use wheat gluten flour, but neither of my cookbooks contain wheat. I am over my allergy, but still don't use the gluten flour for the most part.

Dairy, that is more difficult. Do you happen to know if you are allergic to the protein, casein, or if it is the sugar, lactose? If it is the protein, then you are stuck being dairy free (a lot of my recipes are dairy free, btw.) If it is the lactose, then cheese and cultured dairy products like yogurt, buttermilk and kefir should be fine for you. I have several friends that can't have the lactose (even the lactose reduced milks) but do fine with the cultured dairy -- even when they don't tolerate cheese!

I hope this helps. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance

Blessings!

Our 8 YO son has wheat allergy so we have to find alternatives that suit him and us (lowcarb). It isn't hard for us either as most of our diet is fresh vegs and meat/fish/eggs.

You can make almond or other nut milk to use in recipes calling for milk. And there are some good veggie cheeses out on the market. Watch the carb content in those however.

Keeping it simple is our best solution.
