Hi Linda! Hey I'm a Jersey girl (exit 33 off of Route 78 - don't laugh!) here's what I do about the water thing...

If you are at home, buy those big 2.5 gallon jugs of water for the fridge so the water stays cold... if you are at the office - use or get the boss to invest in a water cooler.

I bought a liter bottle of aquafina (the big bottle). Every night I fill in and it goes in the fridge. Every morning I put four rubber bands around it (I even use different colors) - this was an idea that these boards gave me and it's great.... every time I finish a bottle's worth of water, I remove a rubber band.

Another trick... I am in an office so I keep the liter bottle by my phone (and the laptop) everytime I finish a phone call I take a swig, everytime I change computer programs (from Word to Excel to Outlook or whatever) I take a swig. Just before I get up to go to the bathroom I take a swig. When I get back from a meeting I take a swig. I make sure I have at least 12-16 oz of water with breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The first week or so - you 'll feel like you are in the bathroom all the time, but after that, your body will be so happy with all that water that it will start to really use it and your skin will need less moisturizer, your contact lenses will not be so dry, your knees will stop making that nasty scrunching sound when you go up the stairs (ok, that's just me) and your body will just feel so much better! (By the way, it will heal much better, too - from bugbites, scratches, cuts, etc.)

Good luck with the water - it is so very important and your body does deserve it!

Hugs,
Rachel

Hmmmm....I didn't realize that skin heals quicker, too. That explains why my surgery incisions healed extremely fast. Too cool!

Hi Linda!

Basically, it just takes time.

I HATED drinking water when I first began eating this way, but over time -- and the more I drank -- the more I liked it and now my body craves it.

It's like trying to learn any good habit. Just start slowly and add a little more each day. Take it one day at a time. Try not to *think* about it too much.
Here's a trick I learned that REALLY works:
Every time you are *hungry* or craving something, go drink a glass of water first. You can still eat, but drink at least 6-8 oz. of water FIRST.
This works in more ways than one.
Often our bodies are actually demanding water when we think we are hungry, so not only will you be getting used to drinking the water, you will probably lose more weight by satisfying the thirst, first!
I wish you the best of luck,

Summer

I want to Thank everyone for your replys, Im starting today with my water and low carb diet.
I like the idea with the rubber bands, Thanks!!
I am serious about this and I want to lose. I never really had a problem with weight , until I had my children. I Look in the mirror and hate what I see, I come from a family of 10, I have 7 sisters and 2 brothers and all of my sisters are very thin and somewhere my genetics got a little mixed up.
I need all the support I can get right now with this. I will support anyone who needs my advice also.. My husband is very supportive but it is a little hard when he loves his sweets, his Chocolate Chip Cookies. he does not have a problem with weight, (Must Be Nice)!! Please keep the replys coming I like the advice.
Love Your new Friend, Linda
