Ok since I just found you guys today I have also found many resources. One of which is Fitday.com . Um I ate like 117 grams of fat today. Is this a crisis? Or we don't care? Because that seems like alot to me. I am at 17 grams of carbs and 98 grams of protein. I like to freak out so maybe this is just one of those times

thanks,

V

I can do this!!

Though there are some differences in between some plans on how they emphasise the kinds of fats and, to some extent, the amount, during induction there is no reason to be concerned about the amounts. Many have tried to say that Atkins doesn't care about the kinds of fats and, again during induction, I think that is true but in the long run you will want to try to get most of your fats in Mono forms vs ploy-unsaturated and saturated.

So, no need to freak out.

OTOH, try to keep as close to 20g of carbs. 17g isn't a huge difference but it is best to keep right at 20 if you can. The exception would be if you are exercising to any great extent. Then, you might need to move out of induction to OWL as needed to maintain sufficient energy to exercise comfortably.

HANG IN THERE!!!

Please don't worry about the fat. Fat is a VITAL nutrient (unlike carbs which are NOT) and it is necessary for many body functions such as hormone manufacture, cell structure, brain development, neuro transmitters, organ cushioning, etc.

Remember, in nutrition, you have essential amino acids (proteins) and essential fatty acids (fats). Nowhere is it listed something called "essential carbohydrates" - Your body NEEDS certain proteins and fats to survive so don't worry about it. You're just giving it what it's been missing.

Welcome aboard.

Ditto everyone above!

Fat is what makes everything delicious and keeps you from getting hungry. I LOVE fat ... on my plate, that is. LOL!
