It IS easy... but you are going to have to eat meat. Do you classify chicken and fish as meat? Those are fine if you don't like to eat much beef, or pork. Just remember to not avoid fat. Don't bother with skinless chicken, etc. You WANT the fat.

Study up on the diet to be sure you're doing it right, but it really is a marvelous WOE.

Hi Tanya and welcome!!
It really is wonderful, because you can eat all those things we thought were so "naughty" before!! LOL!! Heavy cream in my coffee...yummy creamy, cheesy dishes/sauces...juicy steak...the list goes on and on. Plus you really come to appreciate how wonderful veggies are (with butter, of course...lol) and salad and eventually LC fruits. Enjoy!! Read lots...be informed...and measure yourself today!! Chest, waist, hips, thighs, etc and write it down so you can remeasure every week or 2. This really helps when the scale is not cooperating!! The inches really do disappear!

You must be sure you are getting adequate protein (roughly 100 grams per day, depending on your size)...of course meat is wonderful...eat what you like as horsemom said...cheese (now) and nuts (once you are out of induction) can help supplement your protein intake too.

Best wishes and come here often for support...you've found a wonderful place here!

Looking forward to reading your posts and watching your progress!

Lindy

Congratulations on deciding to lose weight the low carb way. The way to start is to READ THE BOOK. There is no short cut, I'm afraid. You'll find everyone with some experience on this board will say the same thing. If you want to try the Atkins diet, then buy Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution, or borrow it from a friend and read it ten times, making notes.

Don't be tempted to cut out all carbohydrates from your diet, vegetables and salad are important, and do drink plenty of water, at least 8 glasses a day.

Tanya
You don't need to eat tons of meat on this woe. The articles about Atkins all depict a 2 pound steak, six strips of bacon some eggs and no veggies. Induction is harder to deal with without a good portion of your calories from protein sources. BUt once you start upping your carbs you can fill up on cups of broccoli with cheese sauce and other high fiber veggies. In fact Atkins recommended protein allowance is lower than some other low carb plans.

Welcome and Congrast on desiding to start. What types of meat do you like? Do you like eating meat better when it is in a dish of some sorts? That's how I am!

Just a little tip... when you type in cap's it is considered yelling. :-)

BTW my name is also Tanya :-) Nice to see some one else with the same spelling.

welcome aboard Tanya. I started Atkins 8/29/03 and I am five days into the induction period and I must say, I am doing great. It is not as hard as I thought it would be. The sweet cravings hasn't left completely, I really don't know if this is a craving.(when I see sweets, of if I see someone eating something sweet that's when I want it. But anyway, you can do this girl.
