| I've lost 38 lbs. since spring of 2002. It hasn't been a straight downward path either - my weight loss chart looks like seismograph printout of the San Andreas Fault, LOL! In 2002, I lost about 25 lbs through the spring and summer, basically following Weight Watchers. Then, after recovering from pneumonia, I regained 15 lbs over the fall and early winter holidays. I started low carb eating in January 2003, and I've lost 28 pounds total this year. Often, my weight loss progress was erratic: lose 2/gain 1, lose 3/gain 2, etc. A fair amount of the flucuation is normal daily water weight differences, but vacations and other celebrations slowed my progress, too. AFAIAC, celebrations are part of life and part of my weight management reality. Anyway, I wasn't out to break any speed records with this. My goal was to lose an average of 2 lbs a month. I figured a slow rate of weight loss would make it easier to keep the weight off in the long run. I made my goal weight recently, so we'll soon know if my theory was valid!! I'm happy to say that my temporary diversions didn't derail my weight loss effort - just sidetracked it temporarily. The key is to get right back on a healthy eating plan. So, if you've started losing weight and lapsed - don't lose faith in yourself! Just get back in there and make wiser eating choices. Make the good weeks outweigh the bad days! ~~~Teelbee "remember, amateurs built the Ark, professionals built the Titanic." 174 (Mar. 2002 highest weight) 164 (Jan. 2003, begin LC) 164/135.5/137-134 |

| Hi Teelbee, Maybe it's something about this northern California air that makes us lose more slowly ... I'm just to the west of you in Sunnyvale<g> and have lost 10 pounds in 4 months. I'm not looking to set any weight loss speed records. Like you, I'm hoping that the slow rate will mean permanent. It's certainly given me time to really adjust to the lifestyle changes!Congratulations on reaching your goal weight! Enjoy the benefits of better health and feel really good about how you've accomplished what you set out to do. Ginger 159/149/135 Life is NOT a dress rehearsal |

| I can identify with the slowpoke theory It seems I have been losing and gaining the same 7 lbs. since I started this woe in Jan. of this year. This is my story and I'm sticking to it...LOL....but....I feel better, more energy and I don't even want to think about going back to the low fat hi carb woe. So, I have stuck it out, good times(when the whoooosh fairy comes) and bad times(when the scales turn hateful and mean)and I still believe in this woe. If anything, I'm persistent! | Thanks for posting TB. It is encouraging to knwo I am not the only slow loser in the world. The important thing is to be persistant like you are and it will pay off. I tend to go up and down so many times with the same poundage Thanks for being an inspiration! Susan ( AKA Northwest) 207/178.5/160 |

| Ditto! I got down to within 12 pounds of goal last December and then went on vacation. Big mistake! ![]() I gained 20 pounds in 3 weeks (that's Italy for ya!) and THEN battled to lose it when I got home this past January. Did I? No. I gained 10 more. So, here I sit, up 30 pounds from last December, desparately trying to get this extra weight off. I'm still down almost 60 pounds from my high so that makes me feel good but, naturally, I always focus on this 30. The 30 I SHOULD NOT have gained back. But I did. Life goes on. I relosing this 30 pounds and I'm bound and determined to get back where I was and then continue on to goal. What's the moral of this story? NEVER GIVE UP! Even if it takes you years longer than you thought it would LCE Member since 2001 http://www.ilovelowcarb.com Low Carb & Loving it! |

| Marcie, this graph shows the last 5 1/2 months, when I lost 18 pounds NET! As you can see the total weight I lost during the period was much more than that, LOL! On April 12, I was 145 lbs. on Aug. 17, I was 139 lbs.
quote:
What's the moral of this story?
